Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of CDN TM15t Design TM15 Extra Large Big Digit Timer

Customer Review: Sometimes 100 minutes just isn't enough
Summary: 3 Stars

This is a basic one-channel timer that can count up or count down, but I has a few problems.

Pros
1. Large digits for those with poor vision.
2. Simple.
3. A built in magnet, and fold-down stand and eye allow timer to rest, hang, or adhere to many locations.

Cons
1. Only 99 minute and 59 second capability, which is not always enough...what about that 3 hr. roast or 2 hr. dough rest?
2. Button location (not quite on the front--a bit on the curved edge of the bottom side of the timer) makes it difficult to program the time without the timer sliding around on the counter or whatever surface to which it is attached. If you like to pick up the timer and plug in the time, this is not a problem.
3. The magnet is weak--a common problem with inexpensive timers.

Bottom line: It's OK, but I'm going to look for a timer with higher capacity, smaller numbers (they are really big), and a different geometry (buttons on the front, not the edge) that allows addition of time without sliding around.

Customer Review: Plenty loud, and simple
Summary: 5 Stars

Let me start off by saying I don't understand what the issue with the "top" negative review was. Maybe it had a bad speaker or something. The timer I received, I use all of the time. Often times I will set it in the kitchen, and then go off to my room to work on the computer, and have no trouble hearing it even after I have forgotten that I set it. I guess if your environment is extremely noisy (mine isn't quiet by any means), more than just the TV being on (it seems to beep over that just fine), then you might need to find something different, but it won't be too cheap.

The beep itself is a 4-beep noise that beeps every second for 1 minute.

Other than that it is pretty sturdy, I have dropped it off the refrigerator on accident, and the battery cover came off, but no other damage and the cover was fine too.

Other than that there is not much else you can say it is pretty basic, which I believe is what most people are looking for.

Customer Review: The magnet on the back is perfect
Summary: 5 Stars

This counter is so handy because of many things. 1. It has a magnet on the back of it so that you can place it on the referigtor and on the microwave so it is near where you are cooking and move it as you move around and stick it. 2. The numbers is larger and easy to read from a good piece away. 3. The timer does not stop just at the time that you had it to go off but will start counting foreward to show you how late you are from the time that you wanted to measure time act. 4. It has a fold at a angle clip on the back so you can stand it up so you can put it anywhere you want to put it even in the living room if you really want to watch you cooking time. It uses 3a battery which it comes with one when you get it so you are ready to time when you take it out of the box. and finally it comes with a 5 year warranty which I thougt was a case that the company backs there product. With all that I have stated you cannot go wrong with this counter and start cooking on time.

Customer Review: Time for simplicity
Summary: 5 Stars

The effectiveness in this product comes from its simplicity and minimalism.
- You set the time in minutes and seconds and hit the start/stop button (e.g. 3 minutes)
- The timer counts down and an alarm rings at 0 (you can pause at any time by hitting start stop)
- Once the alarm rings, until you hit start/stop again, the time starts counting up from zero to let you know how far beyond the set time you have gone.
- Once you hit start/stop, the timer resets to your original set time (e.g. 3 minutes)
- To pick a new time, hit the M & S buttons at the same time to clear the timer and then select a new time

That's it.

The display is very readable, the timer itself has several ways you can set it up on a way or magnetic surface.

Great simple product. I got my money's worth.

Customer Review: Cheaply built, not durable, but nice while it lasted.
Summary: 2 Stars

This is a nice, large-displayed, very basic timer. The alert is sort of subdued, non-jarring, not loud as a klaxon, which may or may not be attractive to you. I had problems with my timer. It suddenly started malfunctioning and then stopped working altogether. I took it apart, and found a wire that had come unmoored from the circuit board. I've seen some cheap circuit boards, but this one took the cake: it was wafer-thin and flimsy-looking. I re-soldered the wire the gauge of which was about as thick as a human hair, barely an exaggeration! The unit functioned for a year or so after the repair before it began to go off spontaneously and all digits would intermittently display "8888", so I popped the battery and trashed it. I liked the timer, but the poor reliability and build quality would prevent me from recommending it to anybody.
