This Thermometer is a great tool for frothing milk and so easy to use - I just let it hit the start of the red area 150 degrees and cut off my steam button on my espresso machine. Then turn off the steam knob and it is by then centered on 160 degrees in the middle of the red zone. Perfect temperature for the way I want steamed frothy milk for my Latte. You can calibrate it if necessary to insure it's accuracy - I didn't have to as it was accurate right out of the box. One last area is it has a complete range of reporting temps 0 - 220F and a clip to clip onto the frothing pitcher. It is a little over 5" tall and I use it in a Krups 20 ounce frothing pitcher. I am sure it could be used for a wide range of other things - but I bought it solely for frothing milk - Highly recommend
