This potato ricer is the answer to smooth and silky mashed potatoes, and I love it! There is a huge difference between potatoes mashed with the traditional masher and those made by using the ricer. Not having to peel the potatoes is reason enough to own one of these.
I made roasted garlic mashed potatoes last week and just riced the garlic along with the potatoes. The potatoes were delicious. I used the ricer for sweet potatoes and the texture was outstanding. I can hardly wait to use it when I make my sweet potato pies for Thanksgiving! I have never made spaetzle before, but am looking forward to doing so.
I wish I had gotten one of these years ago, but I always thought it would be something that wound up in the junk drawer unused so I never bought one. After reading all the reviews posted here and seeing one used on the Food Network, I decided to give it a try.
I highly recommend this product because it will give you the creamiest mashed potatoes without having to pull out the hand mixer to get the desired lump free texture. The ricer is durable 18/10 stainless steel and the interchangeable plates are a plus. Cleaning the ricer is a breeze. I hardly use my dishwasher so having cooking tools that are easy to clean is a priority!
If you are just starting out, this is a tool to add to your list of kitchen must haves. Even if you know your way around a kitchen and don't have one of these, do yourself a favor and get one!
Description of Browne Cuisipro Stainless-Steel Potato Ricer
Ricing your potatoes makes fluffly mashed potatoes. You can even boil them in the skin and then rice the potatoes and most skins stay in the ricer. What a time saver! If you've never experienced a potato ricer, it's not too late to make up for lost time. This simple implement doesn't have a digital clock, doesn't blink when it's ready, and doesn't have a tiny computer chip imbedded in it to do all the work. It takes a bit of pressing and squeezing, but the light and airy potatoes that result will be both memorable and worth the work. Place boiled potatoes in the bowl of the ricer, set it across a saucepan (using the ridge on the head of the bowl), and press the potatoes through the disk--that's it. Stir in a bit of butter and cream, dust with paprika, and enjoy.
