Customer Review: Beware Windows XP x64 Users!

I really can't rate the product itself because I can't use it! I have Windows XP Professional 64-bit Operating System and no matter what I try I cannot get the drivers to work with my OS. Have tried Brother support and they just keep telling me to do the same thing over and over to no avail. I am not computer illerate but have had absolutely no luck with this product with this OS. Beware, if you have XP 64-bit OS!! I will have to get my computer guy over here to try to install the drivers, if he can't get the drivers installed, I guess I'm out the money for the product, even though Brother says it will work with my system. What a hassle!!Customer Review: I love this!

I purchased a used embroidery machine (Brother PE170D) about a year ago. It comes with severl built-in designs, but most are disney, which does nothing for my teenage son. I used it very infrequently, mostly for basic monograms. Now that I have the PED Basic and I am embroidering all the time! The set up was very easy and it was ready to go in minutes. With all of the free and low cost designs on the web the possibilities are endless! I wish it'd bought it back when I bought my machine, although I'm very happy with the new low price. Not much to say about this... just that it works well for transferring embroidery files from your computer to the data card. Easy to use, basic program. Lets you do minor resizing of files, and you can look at a preview of what the design will look like once stitched.
I just wish that you could do more with this program, as far as minor edits, especially for the high cost... but I have another program for that now.
If you have Windows Vista, go to the Brother website to download a different driver for the card reader - don't use the included disc.

This is probably one of the best products I have ever bought. For those who do not know much about computers, it is so easy and the instructions are very simple. There is no reason to have to spend $39.99-$75.00 for embroidery cards when you may not even use all of the patterns. This product allows you to go to innumerable websites and download designs, most of them free, onto the memory card and simply slip it in your machine and you are set to go. I wish that I had bought this before I spent hundreds of dollars on memory cards!Customer Review: Very Easy - but Vista Users - don't install software from disk

This is a wonderful product. With the plethora of free designs on the web, this product may save you hundreds of dollars. It is very easy to use, and while a basic program, it has about every feature the beginner may need, including the ability to resize the design to 120%.
HOWEVER - Vista users, be aware that the software provided on disk is not compatible with Windows Vista. You must download the software and driver from Brother. There is no mention of this in the provided manual.
