We have always used Brita pitchers and had the old round one in white, which was starting to look very dingy despite multiple cleanings so we got rid of it when we moved. I love the chrome finish because it perfectly matches the look of the kitchen in our new house, and it filters much faster and holds more water than the older model. I can take or leave the digital indicator but it is a nice reminder as far as how long you have had your filter in the pitcher. I know we don't go through enough water to have to change the filter after 8 weeks (it's just two of us), but I figure if I reset the indicator at 8 weeks and change on the 16th week we will always have fresh water and save a little bit of money on the filters themselves. The water tastes clean and really that's all you want/need with a filter pitcher after all. Overall, a very good product that we use several times every day so I feel it has already paid for itself in usefulness.
