Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Brita 42632 Riviera 64-Ounce Water Pitcher and 1 FilterCustomer Review: Skip the bells and whistles.... Summary: 3 Stars
...or, in this case, the electronic display and "sleek" design. This pitcher works as well as any Brita pitcher; there is a great improvement in the taste of our city water. The electronic display is supposed to display the percentage of time remaining until you need to change the filter. This display is of the quality of a digital watch you might get in a cereal box. It stopped working after a couple of months, and now flashes continously, which is a bit annoying. As other reviewers have said, the top cover pieces tend to flop off during pouring. Brita pitchers are great, but next time I will stick to a basic model.
Customer Review: Don't buy this pitcher! Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this item in March 2007 Brita Chrome Pitcher. I liked the look of the chrome and the slim design of the pitcher. Last week, I took the sensor off and placed it on my counter top so that I could wash the pitcher. I splashed a few drops (yes, drops) of water onto the "sensor" (really only a glorified timer) and now the sensor no longer functions. Pretty useless for a sensor that is designed for use on the top of a water pitcher. It was too wimpy to stand up to a couple of drops of water. So, in my opinion, do not spend the extra money for the "timer." There is nothing Smart about this "Smart" pitcher.
Customer Review: Flippin' lid flips off Summary: 2 Stars
Extremely disappointed in the flip-top design, it constantly falls off during the pouring process. They really need to address this design flaw. If you are considering buying a Brita pitcher, you should consider choosing a different model, with a different lid design. I also agree with others in this forum about the electronic filter change indicator -- it counts off the days despite usage. And it was difficult to accurately set it. And don't be mislead by the color moniker of "chrome" - it's a pale gray plastic. I really would like a do-over on my selection! Flippin' flip top is irritating!
Customer Review: Disappointment Summary: 2 Stars
I will keep it short:
- I thought the digital indicator worked with the amount of water the pitcher filtered but no! The indicator has four bars and every two weeks (no matter how much water you filter) one bar drops. Why do i need a digital indicator for that Brita!? Brilliant idea! At least explain how it works in the item description so we go with a cheaper non-digital one.
- The water still tastes like tap water. It's just slightly different. Slightly...
There are better pitcher filter in the market ladies & gentlemen.
Customer Review: Mind the lid Summary: 3 Stars
The pitcher is a nice size but the lid does not fit snugly and it falls off when you... um... try to pour water.
UPDATE: Raised from 1 to 3 stars. After a month of using it, we finally noticed two very small pins where the lid clicks into place. It took us a bugger of a time to get it in the right position, though.
If you find the front lid falls off at the slightest pouring angle, fumble with it until it clicks into place. This may take you 10 or 15 minutes to get it to set, but it stays there once it's there.
