Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Brita 42632 Riviera 64-Ounce Water Pitcher and 1 Filter

Customer Review: Not what I'd expected, but good
Summary: 3 Stars

I've used many brita pitchers before, and this one works great. The chrome finish on the top is nice (though water-stains easily because when you take it out of the fridge, the top immediately condenses!). The spout at the end is just a bit too broad - if you pour it into a glass fast, the water usually comes out too wide and spills around it - a minor inconvenience.

But, what drew me to the pitcher was the electronic monitor on the top, and what frustrated me the most about the pitcher is that, though I thought the electronic reader monitored the filter and said when it needed to be changed, it actually is just a fancy electronic timer and every two weeks a bar disappears because it assumes you're consuming the water at the rate of a family.

Still, like all Brita pitchers, the water tastes great. I can't really complain.

Customer Review: Brita Water Pitcher & Filter
Summary: 5 Stars

Brita 42632 Riviera 64-Ounce Water Pitcher and 1 Filter This Brita pitcher was purchased as a gift for a bridal shower. For that reason, I neither opened the package nor used the product. I own a Brita pitcher and am happy with it, but it's an older model, not this particular one. I assume the chrome is more attractive and probably safer than my model, which is all plastic, and the new one could possibly make the water taste better.

My biggest problem was with the shipping, not the product. Unfortunately, the week I needed it was an extreme weather week (Midwest snowstorms), so that my order ended up in half a dozen cities or so before it arrived. It didn't come in time for the shower, and I had to ship it to the bride's home.

Customer Review: Love the pitcher, hate the indicator
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this pitcher. Our water taste fine out of the faucet but this filter makes it taste great! It filters fast, even when it's empty and I want filtered water it only takes about 20 seconds to filter all i need. It's also nice to have filtered, tasty water to offer guest who are picky about drinking faucet water. My only "CON" is, the indicator is pointless. The filter is suppose to be good for 40 gallons. Like other reviewers, I thought it would be awesome to have an indicator that tells you how many gallons I've filtered, but NO. It just starts it's way down and by about week 8 it just blinks. I still have no idea how to reset it to 100%. To me, that was a waste of a battery (which will also die in about 5 years). I'm still giving it a 5 star review because it does make great tasting water.

Customer Review: Saving $s & the Environment
Summary: 4 Stars

I recently purchased this product in an effort to do my part toward protecting the environment, and to save money and eliminated the need to purchase bottled water. I just admit that after drinking the same water pretty consistently for many years, I did notice a difference in the taste of the water. The filtered water didn't taste as good. But, I decided to go with it anyway and with time I believed I'd get past the taste differences. Well, it's been about a month now and, although I can't say the filtered taste has grown on me, it is now not nearly as noticeable. And, I actually love the picture itself. I haven't had any problems with the functionality of the picture, it looks great, and I always have a source of fresh, cold water in my fridge.

Customer Review: There must be better options
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this as a substitute to bottled water, however I wasn't that thrilled with it. Since it is just me and my husband the filter timer is useless to us. It counts down weeks, not gallons used. Since it is just two of us we don't use nearly as much water as a family of four would, so our filters should last longer. Also, the taste wasn't all that great. I'll be the first to admit that our tap water is pretty bad, but the filters didn't seem to improve it as much as I had hoped. We also had a hard time pouring water without the whole top lid falling off. The design isn't all that great. Overall I wasn't that impressed with this pitcher. I got rid of it and have decided to try the Pur water dispenser instead. So far I like that much better.
