Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Brita 42558 Aqualux Water Pitcher

Customer Review: Great water!! Poor design.
Summary: 3 Stars

The Brita Aqualux Pitcher is wonderful at filtering bad taste, color, minerals. The water from it tastes and looks wonderful!

HOWEVER...in the three weeks we've had it, the lid has fallen off four times while pouring. The lid does not go on securely, so if you tip it slightly too much while pouring, the lid comes off (along with all the water in the reservoir). This has happened to my 10-year-old twice and, I'm embarassed to say, me twice. The mess it creates is not worth the mess.

I wish Brita would address this problem because, otherwise, this is a fantastic product!

Customer Review: Love my Brita Aqualux Water Pitcher

Brita 42558 Aqualux Water Pitcher

I love this water pitcher. We recently found out that we have overwhelming amounts of clorine and lesser amounts of arsenic.
This baby filters out all of the yucky stuff and it's the freshist tasting water that I've tasted since I lived in up state Michigan and was tapped into an artesian well. YUMMY!
When the pitcher is full you can fill a 12 cup carafe full of water for your coffee. Chock Full of Nuts never tasted better!

Customer Review: great water, no problems
Summary: 5 Stars

We got this pitcher to replace an old, old one we'd be using for years (one of the square footprint ones).

While the old one had numerous minor problems, this one is great. The only remotely frustrating thing is that, sometimes while pouring, my thumb'll rest on the tab to open the hatch on the top, popping it open. That's the extent of the trouble. It doesn't cause any more severe problem, like dumping water everywhere, and the whole lid doesn't fall off the way it does on some other filtration pitchers (brita or otherwise).

Customer Review: Small but well designed
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of the smaller Brita pitchers. Every morning, after water for the cat, the dog, and my pills, it needs a refill. The great part is, no need to remove the top to add water. A small section of the lid tilts up for refills. No fingerprints, no smudges, no problems. It is small enough to fit anywhere in the refrigerator, door or shelf. Who cares about continuous refills is you don't have to remove the lid and then clean the mess.
Also a really easy to use calendar to keep track of 8 weeks between filter changes.

Customer Review: Saving money!
Summary: 4 Stars

I was confused after reading all the reviews on Brita water pitchers my head was spinning. There seemed to be something wrong with all of them, so I just picked one and went with it, despite people saying the cover fell off. Well, I just love it. I cancelled my water delivery that was costing me around $30 per month, and now use my pitcher. The cover does not come off if you wait until the water is filtered through. I do feel as if I am always filling it, but I use a lot of water. I am so glad I bought it.
