Customer Review: My First Pitcher in Several Years, Bottled Water on the Cheap

First off, I've had no problems with the sturdiness of this unit. Of Course, I am the only one in the household. The lid portion with the indicator doesn't snap completely on one side - but has never fallen off. Not sure if this is by design.
Pros: Great tasting Water, Great Tasting Coffee, Easy to Use, Inexpensive, Beats Bottled Water so easy on the environment, Great for Hard Water areas (like mine), Sturdy Product with Care
Cons: Some have complained about the loose lid problem. The portion with the indicator does not fully snap on mine. BUT, I've never had it fall off.
Important: Be sure to follow all instructions, including never letting the filter sit for long periods without being wet (I didn't realize that with my last pitcher).
Background: there were a lot of lime deposits on my sink. The stain wouldn't come out. I found out it was hard water, and began to wonder about the water. I bought a Pur faucet filtration device, but didn't have all the hardware to install. Good thing I didn't, because the reviews on the washer problems were interesting. I traded the Faucet filter for a Brita.
My first use, I didn't heed the warning of pouring water directly on the filter, so there were always carbon flakes. However, I cleaned them out, and non got into the water. I loved the taste, but noticed at six weeks (I was using the water A LOT), that the chlorine, metallic taste was coming back, so I put in a replacement filter. The replacement filter seems more sturdy than the one that came with it. I'm in my 7th week on that one, and the water still tastes fresh.
The water tastes so much better than the faucet, my sister went WOW, tastes better than her filtrated Refrigerator water. The product is very simple to use, as the water lowers beneath the filter in the pitcher, just refill the reservoir (taking care to fill from the side, not on the filter). This beats my hard water all over the place.
When setting up the pitcher and filter, I have never seen the discolored water. But I do dump the first to fills anyway. The end result is fresh, crisp, clear water - without the plastic bottles. Highly recommended (this unit is also a great space saver in the Refrigerator, since it just slides in between objects).
