Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Brita 42378 Deluxe Water Pitcher

Customer Review: Love my Brita!
Summary: 5 Stars

This pitcher has saved my sanity! Unable to afford an RO system, finding the commerical water coolers too big and bulky, and sick and tired of hauling water from the store, this pitcher filtration system was the perfect answer!

The water is delicious, the squared off shape fits the fridge well, and the filters seems to be readily available everywhere (had a similar system previously that I ended up not being able to find filters for a year later).

Highly recommend this system for those of you who want the most convenient filtration system (without spending 1000's of dollars!).

Customer Review: An improvement over the original
Summary: 3 Stars

I've used an older version of the Brita filter and pitcher for over 15 years. Although the filter is the same with the new pitcher, I do like the larger capacity. I also like the hinged door on the top, which allows one to refill the reservoir without lifting the entire lid. I would like to see the manufacturer design a better flap over the pour spout, as the hinge on both the old and new pitchers often fail to open or close smoothly. This leads to an uncontrolled stream of water when one attempts to pour, causing spillage. That's my only (minor) reservation about this product.

Customer Review: Great!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This Brita filter is better than I thought it would be. The water tastes PHENOMENAL! I didn't know water could taste sooo good. Recently, my town has decided to add Chlorine to the water, terrible idea. So, I got this Brita filter so I could continue to drink my 8 glasses a day without feeling sick to my stomach because of the Chlorine addition. The only downside to owning a Brita filter is that you must change the filter every 2 months, and that it does get very heavy after you fill up the pitcher. Otherwise, this is perfect, and a great addition to any kitchen.

Customer Review: Get ready to get soaked
Summary: 2 Stars

If you have any water in the top reservoir of the pitcher, then when you pour water our, the weight of the water in the top reservoir makes the lid fall off and soak you in water. You have to hold one hand on the lid to prevent it from toppling over when you pour water. So, it is impossible to pour with one hand and hold the glass with one hand.

I also agree with other reviewers that it is very messy and gets a lot of water on your refrigerator shelves.

I gave it 2 starts instead of 1, because the filter makes tap water taste good.

Customer Review: Will save you big dollars in the long run!
Summary: 4 Stars

For the longest time I bought the generic brand of bottled water from the grocery store because the tap water doesn't have the best taste. When you do the math, this Brita filer will pay for itself in less than a year (shorter depending on how much water you consume). The water tastes great and it filters fairly fast in the event you need a quick refill. The pitcher has a large capacity however this is also a curse because when it is filled to the top my wife has a difficult time getting it out of the refrigerator because of the weight. Overall a great buy!
