Ahhhh... the Brita filters. They're like magic. You put in your tap water with a bad after taste, and it comes out tasting like water should... like nothing!
They don't filter everything; they don't purify (kill bacteria), but they sure do make the water taste good and take out much of the harmful additives.
Also, they are cheap compared to buying water and don't cause nearly as much waste as bottled water. They also save energy because they do not use massive amounts of fuel (truck or human!) for hauling.
Besides, you know most bottled waters are from the ta anyway, don't you?
The 6-pack is a discounted version of the single-pack, but is a commitment.

I bought these to suppliment the bottled water my son and I were going through(it's amazing how much water a 17 yr old boy drinks even when he takes a couple of sips and opens another bottle because he forgot he had one open). Our water is hard and sometimes has a smell and since I've been going through cancer treatment I've been trying to be a little more concious of things like this. I've had these pitchers before, but something happened to it and I'm glad I eventually bought another. I recommend this highly if you have problems with your tap water, or if you have a well(which my paternal grandparents did on their farm). Much improved taste and believe me it's helped my costs on the bottled stuff.Customer Review: Poor quality filter

I recently purchased both a birta and a pur single stage filter (and a pitcher each). The taste of water from both the filters seems to be comparable.
However, the filtered water from brita filter contains a lot of fine black particles(my guess is that they are charcoal particles). I followed the instructions closely which suggested soaking/flushing the filter initially. Initially, when I saw the charcoal particles, I thought that they would disappear after I have used the filter for few days. This is not the case and I still see black particles in water after 15 days of regular usage. I think the quality of brita is inferior to pur filters and would not recommend buying brita.

We've been using the Brita pitcher and filters for six or eight months, and they work very well. It's nice to have really clean-tasting water, and have ice-cold water in the summertime. (I even use the cold water to make hot tea or coffee because it tastes so much better.) I replace the filters when the indicator on top says to do so, about every 2 months. and they're easy to change. I often see some of the little black carbon specks in the top part of the pitcher as I refill the water, but the lower, filtered section is always clean and clear. I purchased these filters in addition to my Brita Space Saver model pitcher. I haven't had any complications using them and have received excellent tasting water compared to the nasty tap water in my old apartment. I would recomment these filters for anyone interested in buying a Brita Pitcher, as they're signicantly cheaper on Amazon.com versus purchasing them retail or from a local store. Each filter will last up to 2 months, however I'm almost positive you can stretch the life on these bad boys if you don't filter as much water. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and family members.
