Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Breville EW30XL Electric Gourmet WokCustomer Review: Hot Wok Summary: 5 Stars
We had a teflon coated electric wok for about 20 years but the teflon was coming off so thought it would be a good time to replace. The Breville Electric Wok is one of the few on the market but it looked like a quality product. We have used it 3 times. It gets very hot which is great for stir frying of meats and vegetables. I like the lid that has a vent that opens and closes. I like the easy to read and use rheostat and the release button that lets you remove the rheostat without having to pull hard and potentially burning yourself as I did on my old wok. The one negative is that it is a very heavy piece but that reflects the quality of the "bowl" and the special non-stick coating. The base comes off to make it easier to handle when cleaning and both base and "bowl" can go into the dishwasher. We love it.
Customer Review: The absolute greatest cooking device EV-ER. Summary: 5 Stars
Not one to usually jump on any bandwagons, I felt it would be an injustice not to come and add my own glowing review of the Breville wok. Since opening the box, we've not gone one single night without cooking in it. It heats (and I do mean HEATS!!!!) instantly and the non-stick surface makes cooking a quick and easy breeze. It keeps meat melt-in-your-mouth tender and the veggies retain their color, taste and texture thanks to the uber-high temps and quick cooking. Clean up is a cinch thanks to the removable base. AND YOU CAN PUT IT IN THE DISHWASHER! Unbelievable. Usually you'd pay 3 times what this wok sells for on Amazon for a piece of cooking equipment of this caliber. I'm telling all my friends to buy one, and if you're into healthy, quick, easy cooking, then this wok is a must-have for your kitchen.
Customer Review: Wok Your Socks Off - Fantastic! Summary: 5 Stars
Man, what a fanstatic electric appliance! I've had mine for a year now, ample time to use this wok a lot and give it the highest rating because of all the experience I've had with it. It heats up quickly, it's easy to clean and the see-through lid is really convenient as it doesn't cloud up too much, even when steaming. I've used conventional stove-top woks in the past and have to say that I find cooking in this Breville wok to be much easier. Clean-up is a snap, too. Plus, the bowl is large enough to hold several stacked medium-sized bamboo steamers. Some reviewers have said they find the locking/unlocking base mechanism to be a bit cumbersome but I've never had any problems with this. If you're looking for the best electric wok on the market, you've found it with the Breville EW30XL.
Customer Review: Wok is really hot but what's with the non-stick surface? Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this wok based on the reviews posted here. I have to say that I agree that it gets really hot and I am amazed at how well it performs. That being said, I have noticed that the non-stick surface has a lot of surface scratches and I use a plastic spatula. Yesterday, I made Beef Lo Mein and the pan was just as great as beforehand. However, upon washing it up in the sink, I noticed that a piece of the non-stick had peeled off. My experience with that coating suggests that this will continue to occur as I use the appliance more often. This is very disappointing as this is the best performing wok that I have ever used. I'm crossing my fingers hoping that the non-stick won't continue to peel. That would certainly betray the overall performance of an otherwise excellent appliance
Customer Review: Must Have ... Most Used Appliance Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this Wok about 5 months and now use it more than any other appliance I own. Because of it, I've finally been able to cook both Thai and Chinese food correctly ... with great results. Everything you read here about it being super hot and easy to use is 100% correct. Watch some YouTube videos for a recipe and then cook it ..... you CAN make food better tasting than Take Out.
I use it on top my my glass topped range and clean it right where it sits. Absolutely no reason to take it apart to clean ... just a few swipes with a wet dish cloth (no soap) does the trick.
I actually saw this being used on the Food Network .... on Throwdown with Bobby Flay... and the Thai cook used it !!!! She won, of course.
It's a pleasure to recommend this.
