Having loved my other Breville products, to say I am disapointed in the rice cooker I purchased before Christmas is an understatment. The first two times I used the cooker resulted in hard undercooked rice with a scorched layer at the base. The third time I tried I used measurements according to the rice package, not those included with the cooker. The result was somewhat better than the previous attempts, but the rice was still underdone and there was a huge mess on the countertop and floor from the water that spewed out the hole and sides during the cooking process. I plan to return this cooker as well as one I had given my son.Customer Review: Bubblicious

This rice cooker makes good tasting rice in a short time, but if you put more than one cup of rice in to cook it will bubble out all over your kitchen creating a nasty starchy mess.
Just as you wouldn't accept a toaster spitting breadcrumbs over your kitchen counter because you put two slices of bread to toast instead of one, this rice cooker is poorly designed for the capacity of rice Breville claims it can cook.
If you wash the rice well and are only going to cook one cup then this cooker is great, although buying a 10 cup rice cooker for this purpose is redundant.

Like one of the other reviews here, we get a slimy brown puddle all over the counter whenever we cook brown rice in our cooker. While cooking it bubbles up and out of the vent hole and all around the top of the lid. It's a complete mess and very disappointing. I've never had this problem before with a rice cooker, but I'm getting rid of this cooker.Customer Review: Oops, I Should Not Have.......

Bubbly water all over the counter. Not a good cooker. Other products by Breville have been great but this is a huge disappointment. I should have sent it back.
