Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite 1000-Watt Juice ExtractorCustomer Review: Great juicer! Very Impressed Summary: 5 Stars
I recently purchased the Jack Lalanne Power Juicer and had to return it after just three days of use because the motor died. Needless to say, I was quite unimpressed with its quality and performance. Previously owning a Champion, which did a good job, it was time-consuming to clean and a little on the `pulpy' side; it also had a small feed shoot. Because of comparisons and current use of the Breville 800JEXL, I now realize that I made an excellent choice in buying the Breville.
I accidentally stumbled across this juicer via Amazon.com and decided to buy it based upon the positive reviews everywhere I looked. (I honestly have not and cannot think of anything negative to say...from me or anyone else.) I just got my Breville 800JEXL and absolutely, positively love it.
This thing is built extremely solid and the outer shell is constructed of die-cast aluminum and zinc; it also looks like an appliance and is very appealing to the eyes. I cannot say enough about it as far as quality and design goes.
With an extra wide feed chute and powerful two-speed motor, this thing is extremely efficient. Also, most importantly, this thing totally pulverizes fruits and vegetables with its titanium-plated blade very, very quickly with an almost creamy taste to the juice. The quality is as good if not better than that from juice bars!
Being very easy and not time-consuming to clean, the extra-wide top (3" in diameter) is also a great feature along with "a safety device which safeguards against overheating with excessive loads".
Having owned a Champion and briefly, the Jack Lalanne Power Juicer, I have to say that this one blows them both away in everything I can think of. Get the "Juice Fountain Elite", and you absolutely will not be disappointed. (I do not work for Breville; I am just extremely impressed!)
Customer Review: Powerful juicer Summary: 4 Stars
I must admit my experience with previous juicers is only limited to 2, both of them centrifugal, one from the 80's and the second from the 90's.. so let's just say this juicer brought me up to speed with current technology in this field. The juicer is indeed powerful -one of a kind-, as claimed by the multiple reviews I read prior to purchasing it. I admit this is a high value for a home appliance, so this was no easy decision. I've tried it so far with several fruits, and all in all, it works amazingly well. I am rating it a 4 because in full power, say, with pineapples, the seal between the plastic lid and stainless steel basket or between the plastic lid and the plastic pulp container is not fully watertight, and with the great power of the centrifugal force inside and overpressure generated, some pulp always flies out from in between and splatters all over the kitchen. Cleaning is really easy (a great asset for juicers, which are always messy to clean). The filter, just as any other of its kind, requires some vigorous brushing with the plastic brush (supplied) but cleans fully in less than 30 seconds of scrubbing and rinsing. A plus is the foam stopper in the jug: just a plastic baffle which acts by preventing foam to enter the glass when you invert the jug and pour the juice out... Even so, the foam this juicer creates is considerably softer and less "pulpish" than others I've tried in previous juicers... so you can even drink it and it is even pleasurable. For this price, I would have expected a stainless steel pulp receptable, but the plastic one supplied is of good quality. This seems like one of those appliances which will last a lifetime.. Also, it is not nearly as big as I anticipated... it's just as big as any other regular juicer, take or give a bit. I would purchase it again.
Customer Review: Wow! What a power juicer! Summary: 5 Stars
I was not disappointed in any way with the purchase of this juicer. All of the positive reviews I read about this machine were true!
It is engineered like any really good juicer should be:
1. Powerful and efficient
2. Easy to use (even for new juicers)
3. Well constructed with mostly stainless steel and easy/fast to dismantle and reassemble
4. FAST
5. EASY to clean
6. and also.....EASY to clean!
My wife and I can make a gallon of juice in a matter of a few minutes, and the 4 parts of the juicer that need to be cleaned (besides the juice pitcher) can be cleaned in about 5 minutes. (unlike some other juicers like the Jack Lalaine which can take forever to clean their multiple cheap plastic parts.)
If we want to make several different juices or juice mixes, it is also very easy to dismantle, clean quickly, and go on to making the next juice. We sometimes make 4 or 5 different juice concoctions and have the machine cleaned and ready to put away in less than an hour. (wow!)
It is also very quiet in comparison to other machines. The two speed motor is also very useful when mixing different ingredients (such as low speed for citrus juices, and high speed for other ingredients).
I have not owned my juicer very long, but it has been really a great experience with this one. (unlike some of my friends who bemoan their experiences with other brands) I have been told also by other friends that the Breville brand is much more reliable and that the customer service and warranty are very good.
After I wear this one out (probably will take a long time as it is very well made!), I will definately get another Breville!
Customer Review: Bought it for looks, kept it for function Summary: 4 Stars
Well, I originally bought this juicer because I knew that unless it was sitting out on the counter I would stash it away and forget about the $$$ I spent on it!! I am particular about kitchen appliances sitting out on the counter, so I knew it had to look good, but didn't want to just pay for looks.
The stainless steel housing is not only attractive, but very easy to clean. The only part of this juicer that is difficult to clean is the filter, but all of them are that way. Putting a plastic liner in the bucket also makes fewer parts to clean.
Two caveats to this juicer:
One, the juice is pretty frothy due to the high rpm's even on the low speed. But, this is a trade off to be able to juice quickly and efficiently. Just be sure to drink the juice right away to reap all of the benefits of the fresh juice.
Two, using the higher speed makes the juice even more frothy, makes a mess because juice spews out of the spout (I usually use a glass instead of the pitcher it comes with to save cleaning an additional part), and the higher speed really isn't necessary anyway because the lower speed is plenty efficient to juice just about anything.
I wanted to be able to juice leafy greens, and although it doesn't do a great job of that, it does better than I thought it would - much better than the Jack LaLane. It also juices the whole (small) apple which saves a step in the process by cutting it up. Carrots and celery are a breeze, and the pulp is drier than I expected.
I thought it was pretty pricey for what it was, but I actually really like this juicer. And, because it sits out on my counter, I use it every day, making it worth the extra money!
Customer Review: They thought of everything Summary: 5 Stars
The bottom line on if a product accomplishes it's purpose is if you use it regularly as intended. I have had a premium competitor's juicer for 20 years and have only used it in spurts. No pun intended. It is built like a tank which explains why after 20 years it looks new. But it is a center fugal model which means everything you put in to juice remains in a spinning tub and the juice is thrown to the sides of the spinning tub and then out the spout. This method is flawed in several ways. First you are limited by how much you can juice without cleaning the removable tub out and it fills fairly quickly. Also it becomes less efficient as the pulp accumulates and it is harder for the juice to squeeze through. Also at times the pulp inside is not balanced causing the machine to dance on the counter. Cleaning the thing is a beast. Disassembly is not rapid and the screened tub is a mess. By contrast, this Breville throws the pulp into a container so it never accumulates in the machine. They recommend putting a supermarket plastic bag in the container so cleanup is just throwing the bag away after each use. The opening to feed the vegetables into is very wide so nothing must be cut to fit which saves more time. The machine has only 5 large parts that come apart in a snap and clean up in literally seconds. All parts are dishwasher safe if you want to go that route. I use this machine every single day and am so impressed how the Australian designers seemed to think of everything in designing this machine. Well worth the money. I buy everything through Amazon, but this item I bought at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Using their 20% off coupons that never expire made their price below anything online.
