Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Breadman TR875 2-Pound Breadmaker, Stainless SteelCustomer Review: Don't lose your paddle! Summary: 1 Stars
We purchased this breadmaker on November 29, 2007. The only complaint that I had was that I had to struggle to remove the pan, and would have assigned it a four star rating for that reason. That was last week.
We lost the paddle and phoned Salton to order a replacement. We were informed that the part was no longer available, but they would replace the entire machine as long we could provide proof of purchase dated within the one year warranty period. When we told them we could supply a printout of our Amazon invoice, they informed us that Amazon was not an authorized dealer and therefore they would not replace our machine.
First of all, replacing and shipping a large machine when only a small part is required is costly and wasteful. What happened to recycle and reduce?? I think it is unscrupulous that this company continues to sell this product without providing replacement parts. They also seem to have some problems honoring their warranty. I certainly cannot recommend buying this machine.
Please, if anyone can assist us in locating a replacement paddle, we would be most appreciative.
Customer Review: So Far So Great Summary: 5 Stars
Maybe I should make a few more loaves before reviewing, but so far I have no complaints whatsoever. The breadmaker arrived breathtakingly quickly (ordered it Saturday, it was on my doorstep on Tuesday -- with supersaver shipping!). I've made two loaves of bread, and both turned out great. (Jalepeno corn bread from the enclosed recipe book [good, though not very 'corny' tasting) and regular white bread from my cookbook.
I was a bit concerned when I opened it and saw how small the pan was. I couldn't believe it would make a 1 1/2 pound loaf (my usual size) without running over. The loaf IS small, but rises nice and high.
If I have one complaint it's that the shipping packaging was very wasteful. I arrived home from work to find a HUGE box on my porch. Having picked the breadmaker because, among other things, it has a small 'footprint', I was a bit worried. I opened the box to find another box. I opened THAT box to find .... another box. And sure enough, inside the third box was the breadmaker, nestled in a thick shell of styrofoam, and just about the size I'd expected. But really ... three boxes?
Customer Review: Great Gluten-free Bread! Summary: 4 Stars
When I found out I was allergic to wheat, I was very disheartened. I loved bread! I ate some everyday (which is probably why I was so often sick, but who ever thinks that their favorite foods might be the problem?). I resigned myself to the fact that I would never eat bread again, until I found this bread maker.
I've only made one loaf so far, using a recipe from the Gluten-free Goddess's Blog, and it turned out great!! I've never used a bread maker before, so can't compare it to others, but the process was easy (just layer ingredients, select the right cycle, and let it go). Once done, the loaf slide right out of the pan, but I did manage to squish the top, so my loaf is kind of sunk in in the middle. I can also see how the paddle might annoy people when they try to take it out, but I didn't have any problems. When looking for a bread maker to buy, I read lots of reviews debating the benefits of 1 paddle instead of 2. However, I found that 1 paddle was sufficient to stir everything.
So far, this bread maker was worth the $95 I paid, and I probably would have even paid full price for it if I had to.
Customer Review: Breadman TR875 Summary: 4 Stars
This is a pretty decent bread machine. This is only my 2nd bread machine. My first one was also a Breadman that lasted 12yrs, which is why I purchased another one. My old machine had a very sturdy, solid and tall bread pan. This one is short, light weight and very "cheap" compared to my first. The bread does taste good, however, it does not rise nearly half as high as my other machine. This one will rise about 6". It's not too dense and it is very moist. The best part is that I LOVE the window on top so you can see without lifting the cover. It is much bigger than my other machine so what a treat that is. I also love the many different cycles for different types of bread and the pizza dough comes out sooooo good. I can't wait to make jam in it. My family is again loving the fact that they can wake up to homemade bread smells meandering up the stairs to great them early in the morning. Thank you awesome timer.
Overall a great machine. Just wish the bread pan was a bit more sturdy and taller for taller loaves. Gotta love the health benefits too of all this homemade goodness and it is sooo easy to use.
Customer Review: Breadman bread maker Summary: 1 Stars
I excitedly opened my new Breadman bread maker. My son has been diagnosed with food allergies that means we need to make most of his foods from scratch. This bread maker was going to be a blessing. I opened it, all the pieces appeared there. I followed the instructions to wash it and run it through a quick cycle empty to burn off chemicals. It was noisy, but appeared to be doing it's thing. Then I loaded it with (expensive, specialized) ingredients, set it and pushed start.... nothing. No noise, nothing. The timer was counting down, so I let it go. I restarted it two more times and inspected it to make sure I had the bread pan properly installed - I did. Nothing. I ended up attempting to finish the loaf off by hand, cooking in the oven, in an attempt to save the ingredients.
My husband looked up the reviews and saw that many people had had trouble with the Breadman.
I hope that Amazon "will do the right thing" when it comes to returning it and getting my money back. (Maybe they shouldn't work with this company anymore.)
I do NOT recommend the Breadman TR875 Stainless Steel Breadmaker.
