Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Breadman TR2500BC Ultimate Plus 2-Pound Stainless-Steel Convection BreadmakerCustomer Review: Good news/bad news Summary: 3 Stars
I made two terrific loaves of french bread during the first 48 hours since delivery of this machine. On the third day, preparing to make banana bread, I poured the ingredients into the machine, plugged it in and -- nothing. The machine was dead. I tried it in other electrical outlets -- still nothing. I tried other appliances in the outlets and they all worked fine. After less than 3 days, the machine had died on me -- and for no apparent reason, as I had done nothing to it! (What was especially wasteful was the fact that I also had to throw out all the ingredients I had so carefully put into the machine.) I called the company (Salton) and they sent me a UPS label with which to return it, and promised to send me a replacement -- although they warned me that it might take some time since they did not have any of these models on hand. I had to drive to the UPS store and drop off the package, which I did (an inconvenience) and I am still waiting for the replacement to arrive. (It's been about a month) Hopefully I will have better luck with the replacement -- if it ever shows up -- and will be able to make more than two loaves of bread with it!
Customer Review: I ignored the bad reviews... Summary: 5 Stars
I always look at the bad reviews on an item first. On this breadmaker one of the problems listed often was the brackets holding the pan into the unit. Because of these, when I first got the breadmaker I slightly bent the clips on the pan downward. I mean SLIGHTLY. I had zero trouble when the machine was kneading the dough. As for the rest of the bad reviews, I always make my dough with enough liquids that the dough is a bit sticky to the touch after the kneading cycle. I do not do this when making bread by hand, but in the machines it seems to work for me. I did that today with the first loaf I made in this machine. Even though it was an oatmeal bread, and a fairly heavy dough, the result was fantastic. The bread rose to mound over the top of the pan, the light setting on the crust was perfect. I have used my old breadmaker into the ground. It is many years old. I am very pleased with this new one. Both the ease of use as well as the product it produces. Yes, the display panel could use a better lit background, but it IS readable and clearly indicates what you need to know. Two thumbs up, people. I love this machine.
Customer Review: BUYER BEWARE! THANK YOU AMAZON! Summary: 5 Stars
BUYER BEWARE! THANK YOU AMAZON!, March 19, 2007
Well after giving this a good review awhile back thought I better keep you all informed as to what has tranpired since my purchase in December. The first unit (yes first one) we used for 10-15 loaves and loved it, but the machine did what the others in the reviews stated. IT JUST WENT DEAD! I tried to contact Sultan and got NO response. I was starting to worry and contacted AMAZON, they took care of me by next day air! AND I got the new unit and it was doing all kinds of things. At first I thought it was just heating when it was suppose to be kneading and vice a versa, but after getting off the phone with AMAZON CS, I went to unplug the unit, it was in the off mode and it was sitting there just humming away, no heating element running, but the contactor was closed and drawing all kinds of amperage. (I'm an electric tech) I want to warn everyone this machine is a fire hazard! Sultan knows it has major problems and I would not be surprised if there aren't pending suits on this machine.

Customer Review: Excellent, no problems at all, recommend it Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this item with some trepidation, having read the negative reviews on Amazon.com. Recently, I learned that I have some food allergies, and I cannot purchase most bread in a grocery or bakery. I decided in favor of this model because it has the right combination of features, style, and price.
I would recommend this product. During the past two weeks, I have made various yeast and batter breads and had no problems whatsoever. I have never used a bread machine before, or baked yeast bread in an oven. I find the TR2500BC simple to use and easy to clean. My bread loaves have come out just fine.
I suspect the key to good breadmaking is to read the instruction manual a few times before you use it (particularly if you have no prior bread machine experience). As well, level measures of the ingredients and layering the ingredients as recommended by the manufacturer help.
I have been using the bread recipes in _The Allergy Self-Help Cookbook_ by Marjorie Hurt Jones. Thus far, I am quite satisified with the TR2500BC and the recipes from Jones' cookbook.
Customer Review: Don't Buy, Don't Buy Summary: 1 Stars
I read lots of reviews for this machine and I wish I had heeded the negative ones. This machine was a big disappointment. It was very hard to get the moisture content right. If it was too wet, then it didn't knead the dough, the blade just turned in the middle of the dough. If it was too dry then it banged the doughball around and didn't pick up the flour in the corners. When the content was right, you didn't know until you watched it for 5 minutes. The clips that hold the pan are poorly designed. During kneeding the blade reverses several times, this causes the pan to shift in the clips and it often comes loose enough that kneeding stops and creates a lot of racket. I had my bread machine for about eight months when it quit working. The screen went blank and no amount of plugging unplugging, trying different socket helped . I called the company in May and they said cut off the end of the cord and send it to them, which I did. They said a new machine would ship by the end of July. The new machine arrived in October. It sat around unopened for three months and I finally gave it away.
