Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Breadman TR2500BC Ultimate Plus 2-Pound Stainless-Steel Convection Breadmaker

Customer Review: Awesome Machine Produces Awesome Bread!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this breadmaker for my daughter as her Christmas gift from her dad and I. It replaced one that made smaller, vertical loaves. She had adapted my Mom's homemade (to die for) rye bread old fashioned recipe to a bread machine recipe, so the entire family has enjoyed this gift. The Breadman TR2500BC produces the same, great tasting loaves she used to make, but there are so many more cycle choices on this machine, the bread that comes out of this one has a much nicer, softer texture on the inside.

She loves it, since Christmas, she has averaged a loaf a day, including her awesome rye bread and some adventurous banana bread. I looked at a lot of machines and read a lot of reviews before deciding on this particular machine. While some people are not happy with theirs, there are many who feel the same as my daughter does, it is an AWESOME machine. To me, it is well worth the reasonable price and I would recommend it highly (per my daughter's comments).

This was, I believe, the first Christmas I didn't ask her what she wanted as a gift (every time she made bread throughout the year, she mentioned that she would replace her machine with a horizontal machine someday) and I absolutely, completely made the correct decision. Couldn't have been better if she had picked it out herself.

Customer Review: Not the machine I'd hoped it would be.

We've had this for a month and have not had good results. Having used other bread machines in the past, this one is nothing special, excepting the gluten free cycle - which didn't happen to perform in our machine. The book's gluten free recipe was followed exactly and the loaf was thoroughly and surprisingly uncooked. I used several other gluten free recipes specifically for bread machines and had the same results. This leads me to believe the cooking time is not programmed long enough for a gluten free loaf and this unit doesn't allow altering of the gluten free cycle. I could set it to "bake only" after the first cycle, but for how long? How would I know how cooked or uncooked it is inside? Who wants to babysit the machine? Then I made a loaf using gluten free ingredients on the white bread cycle and we got a little better result. We could at least eat the outer parts of the loaf, but there was still a large portion undercooked. There isn't much skill involved with using bread machines so I suspect the machine itself. We're sending it back for a refund. Aside from that, it is pretty cumbersome and the beeps are as loud as our smoke detectors (my dogs freak out when I turn it on)! As much as I'd like to flunk this machine, I'll give it 3 stars in case it is a defective unit.

Customer Review: What Happened To Breadman??
Summary: 1 Stars

I used a Breadman machine for ten years, and wore it out. So got this unit that should be "just like it", but it is not. It weighs about half, and is not sturdy at all. Plus the baking pan is now shorter and taller, so bread will be more like a cube than a loaf.

It arrived nonfunctional; plugged it in and all the display would do is blink and beep. To their credit, Amazon is shipping a replacement and sending a label to return this one, them paying shipping both ways. However I first called the Breadman "customer service" as listed in the instruction book. First there is a greeting "If you are a Canadian tire seller, press one." Then the rest of the list, which never mentions Breadman, includes Black and Decker tools, some sort of drinking water system, etc. Next I get the always-truthful "Call volumes are unusually heavy, so you may be waiting more than ten minutes. If you want to continue holding, press one." Pressing one, it immediately goes to "Leave a number and we will call you back." Wanna guess if I got a call back?

Amazon did the right thing, but this machine is tinny and their support is crap. I was hoping I could just return it and go get a decent bread maker. This on is a toy.

Customer Review: Glad I did it

Before I bought, I researched and read a lot of reviews on Amazon and elsewhere. I am glad I bought this model over the "Zo". Having had a bread machine in the past and knowing how pulverized raisins become when in the mixture, I was enthralled with the fruit dispenser feature. I have had my machine for over 2 months and have been very pleased with this model and its features. Read the instruction manuel carefully, highlighting important information. Also, would definitely recomend making it a priority of purchasing the Bread Machine Magic cookbooks available on Amazon. They give you SO much insight into the procedures of bread machine breadmaking. Their recipes are wonderful as well.
Uh-oh: I purposely waited to post a review for this bread machine to be sure all was as expected. However, 4 days after I posted, my machine would not operate. Electrical outlet not an issue, recent baking cycle (did not need to cool down) not an issue. Just would not operate. Someone else in an earlier post had similar problem. Which is why I kept the original box and packaging and receipt... just in case. It did work wonderfully. Even made fresh strawberry jam with the jam cycle.

Customer Review: Excellent bread machine for the price.

I've had bread machines over the years, mostly Oster brand, but this time I wanted one that baked horizontal (loaf-shaped) loves, but didn't have the funds for the more expensive models, and the Breadman UltimatePlus seemed to fit the bill nicely.

I think all bread machine recipes need a bit of tweaking, and a couple of test loaves usually does the trick. I had read a suggestion somewhere about removing the kneading paddle BEFORE the final rise and bake cycles (right after it punches down for the second time. As a result, there's no weird hole in the bottom of the loaf after baking and you don't have to worry about digging the paddle out.

Yes, this machine is a tad noisy (but I think they all are). I can live with that (kind of like the dog's snoring, you get used to it). It makes a really nice loaf of bread. The instruction manual has a good assortment of recipes. I particularly like the fact that the lid is removable, so it can be washed instead of merely wiped off.

I probably don't use this machine nearly as much as I should, but when the mood strikes and I want freshly baked bread, nothing beats the ease of handling of this machine.
