Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Breadman TR2500BC Ultimate Plus 2-Pound Stainless-Steel Convection Breadmaker

Customer Review: Great machine!
Summary: 5 Stars

I probably would have went for the other Breadman on Amazon but this one was on clearance at Kohls for $19.99. Super deal. I wasn't expecting much since it was so cheap and after reading all the reviews on here, but it has been great! I've used it 6 or 7 times now. I made the best cinnamon raisin bread I've ever had! All my recipes turned out great, and I don't have to watch the machine or do anything at all. I use the delay timer to have bread ready in the morning, never a problem! The dispenser works great (only have used it for raisins). The machine does not wake me or my 6 month old in the morning, we cannot hear it. So far, so good, it's a great machine and makes awesome bread.

UPDATE: After about 10 uses, it died just like the other reviewers here. It just wouldn't turn on. THUMBS DOWN!

UPDATE 2: Apparently, the power went out in the middle of bread making and the bread machine has some timer or something where it won't turn on for a few hours after it just loses power. We were sitting in the living room and all of a sudden heard the bread machine turn on and start doing stuff. It has worked fine since and has been months now. Once again, highly recommend. I also emailed customer support when I *thought* it was broken and they replied within 2 days with possible solutions. So to everyone who has problems with it not turning on, just leave it plugged in for a day or two and see if it comes back on.

Customer Review: Died after two loaf

Nov 17, 2006
Bought it two months ago, used it only twice and suddenly it stopped working. Called manufacturer, got return label, sent in for replacement, but three weeks passed and I still have not received anything. So I called them on Nov 17, 2006, and was told they don't have this model in stock. The worst part is that they also said they do not know when it will be ever in stock, maybe tomorrow or may in a year.

I wish I had tried to return it to Amazon rather than called manufacture for return/replacement.

Do not buy this model!!! and maybe we should not buy any Breadman branded products at all since the customer service from manufacturer is astonishingly bad.

Update on Dec 14, 2006.
Today I called customer service to check the status of my replacement unit. Was told it's still out of stock and they still do NOT know when it will ever be in stock - "the shipment is on its way to our warehouse, but I don't know when it will reach our warehouse", what an irresponsible response.

Anyway it's my bad luck. But I do decide to change my luck by buying another breadmaker of different brand and not keep waiting for the replacement any longer. I just need to convince myself forget I ever bought this crappy Breadman breadmaker.

With that sorted out, I feel much better now.

Customer Review: LOVE it!
Summary: 5 Stars

I received this breadmaker as a gift for Christmas 2008 and I LOVE it. I have never owned a breadmaker before so I cannot give you a side-by-side via experience. However, I can tell you that one of the things my Mother used to have trouble with timing the addition of fruits and nuts (gets distracted, misses the beeps, you may know this story...). This bread machine takes care of that because it has a little "drop in" tray that can be used when "fruit & nuts" are selected for any cycle (but you still have to remember to select...not 100% idiot proof I found through experience :D ).

Thus far, we have used it to make cinnamon rolls, pizza dough, sourdough bread, cinnamon-raisin bread and oatmeal-wheat bread with nuts. I am planning to get the caraway seeds and rye flower necessary for rye bread soon. I no longer buy bread at the store. All of the recipes have been out of the little book that comes with it thus far. It's pretty simple...add ingredients in order, make a little hole for the yeast, select cycle (don't forget fruit & nuts!) and go.

After reading other reviews that mention the pan jumping around I am a little concerned that this may become an issue. I have had this happen once before but I probably have 15-20 uses in at this point and everything seems to be okay.

Again I say...LOVE IT!

Customer Review: poorly designed.....how did this get approved for sale?
Summary: 1 Stars

I have owned a Breadman for 10 years and loved it, but finally, the pan bit the dust and to order a new one was $45.00, and was back-ordered (still haven't heard back about whether they will be sending it).....so I decided I may as well just buy a new version of the machine since the old one was so great. This new machine is made differently. The first thing I noticed was that the pan hooks in the machine less securely, then I noticed that the parts that move the paddle (in the machine) are rounded so the parts in the pan that hook to it just slip over them under stress and make the pan POP out. Everytime (without fail) I make bread the pan POPS out and I have to keep pushing it in, if I can. Sometimes, the pan won't push back in so I have to restart the cycle (what a mess). It almost seems purposely designed to fail.

Anyway, I don't know if this makes sense, but it really is very badly designed. I don't know why they changed a good thing. I called customer service and they won't take calls, you have to leave a message which they will return.....well I called last week and still no word. In the meantime, while waiting for the call back, my returns/exchange time frame with Amazon has expired. I'm not sure what to do with this piece of junk, except warn all y'all out there who are considering buying this NOT TO BUY.

Customer Review: Excellent product
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my first bread machine. I've had it for a couple months and am very happy with it. I have found that it is easy to use, program, clean, and maintain, and consistently makes very good quality bread, even on the quick bake cycle. The stainless steel exterior looks nice too...

The timer feature works okay, though you end up with the paddle cooked into the loaf when you get done. It's very nonstick and easy to remove yet leaves a hole in the bottom of the bread. No big thing, but it is a bit nicer to pause the process right before the baking cycle and remove the paddle so that it won't get cooked in.

While a bit on the pithy side, the recipe book is also quite good. It produces better tasting bread then many of the pre-packaged mixes I have tried. It does, however, have a few typos. For example, the challah recipe on page calls for a temperature setting of 365 degrees yet the machine can only be set up to 355 degrees. Works just fine with that setting though...

The two pound loaves seem to come out better than the smaller ones for some reason. Unlike regular cooking, baking is much more science then art, so follow the recipes exactly and you will get fantastic results... I love the smell of fresh baked bread in the morning. Great product, good price.
