Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Breadman TR2500BC Ultimate Plus 2-Pound Stainless-Steel Convection BreadmakerCustomer Review: Makes good bread. Poor Customer service, No parts available Summary: 1 Stars
We had the breadmaker for about 6 months and turned out many excellent
loafs. Sometimes we had to play around with the recipes
to get it just right. We used it a couple of times a week and tried
many different recipes. Then the bread pan broke. Called up customer
service. They were nice enough and said they would send out one
under warranty in two weeks. That was 4 months ago. Everytime
you call up it's two weeks and they also have one of those systems
that tell you 'your call is important to us'. It tells you this
every 30 seconds. Something tells me that is not the case.
There is NOWHERE else to get parts. No small appliance store
carries the parts. Can't get it on Ebay. Nowhere to send it if
it breaks. They are now owned by Fox International look at
their other brands and avoid them. If it breaks it's gone.
Customer Review: Breadman Round II Summary: 5 Stars
This is the second time I have owned a Breadman 2lb Breadmaker. I used my previous one for 4 1/2 years, 2-3 times a week. I made bread and countless dough recipes. Once in a while I would have a fail, but most likely that was due to pilot error. I had to replace it because the paddle mechanism eventually rusted out, and I was unable to find a replacement pan, despite an extensive search. Having previously owned a Hitachi and a Panasonic, I found the Breadman was far superior. For me, the secret trick is to let the ingredients sit in the breadpan 2 hours before turning it on, so they get up to room temperature. I do wash and dry the breadpan as soon as it's cooled down enough, to reduce it's exposure to moisture. I did look into changing brands, but decided on getting the Breadman once again because of it's dependability and cost value.
...going off to make pizza dough now...
Customer Review: This machine has some specific design flaws Summary: 2 Stars
We read the reviews for this breadmaker and were a little apprehensive about buying it, but ended up deciding to take the chance, hoping that most of the people who had reviewed it simply hadn't used the machine correctly. Unfortunately, the machine we received had some design flaws. Each time we used it, the pan would walk it's way up and out of the clips that hold it in the bottom of the oven, especially during the knead cycles. Eventually, the pan would pop up and out completely, so the driver would not contact the paddle, and no more mixing or kneading would take place. If we noticed the problem, we would press the pan back into place, and it would mix/knead again for a little while. However, opening the lid releases a lot of heat, and whenever we did this, the resulting loaf would be about half size and very dense. I recommend buying a more expensive breadmaker. You get what you pay for.
Customer Review: A machine not usable and customer service is not helping Summary: 1 Stars
I have not been able to use my Breadman Ultimate Bread Machine as the paddle shipped was a incorrect, unfit part. I worked with the Salton customer service (Jeff C.) and he verified my Amazon receipt and promised to order a replacement part on 9/15. However, I didn't get any response to my follow-up since. It has been a very frustrating experience and I feel perhaps other people can use this precaution. 1) The fact that the manual cover page has instructions for customer with incorrect parts could be an indication that this happens quite often. To me, it tells me that the Breadman products may have a serious production problem, parts are often mispackaged. 2) Customer service level is not acceptable.
It is a shame that this is supposed to be an excellent machine. I wrote to customer service asking for a return label to return the machine, and it has gotten no response either.
Customer Review: Excellent bread every time! Summary: 5 Stars
I received the Breadman Ultimate Plus TR2500BC as a gift. I was skeptical based on some bad reviews I read. Also, I had an older, less-capable Breadman model that gave less-than-stellar results and then broke after several years.
I love this new machine -- it makes perfect bread every time. White, whole wheat, multigrain all come out perfect. Different loaf sizes come out perfect. The manual is excellent and comprehensive. It even now tells people that it's important to check the dough ball at the start of the cycle (something I had to learn from a bread cookbook, with my older model). The problems other people mention with the pan seem to be related to not locking it into place correctly. I've had no trouble.
I've only had the machine for a month, but no problems with the 6 or so different types of loaves I've made so far. Every one was perfect.
