Our previous Braun Water Kettle provided excellent service for eight years. It was given to us as a gift by our German exchange student. When it failed I tried to find a replacement, but we could not find the Braun Water Kettle at any local department store outlet. In speaking with our former student it was suggested that we try Amazon.com. We did and found the Water Kettle in black color which is an even better match to our kitchen decor. The kettle was ordered on a holiday week end and arrived by the following Friday. We are very happy with the Kettle and the Amazon service that made it available to us. The UPS people have fantastic tracking of the shipment.Customer Review: It was a gift

This was purchased as a gift. I cannot therefore critique it. I have one similar and love it. I can however critique shipping. I never received a confirmation of delivery, so when I was asked to review this the first time I tracked the shipment. Received an email that it was lost and did I want my money back or to re-ship. I requested re-shipment. At the same time I found out from the recipient's that it was already received. I then canceled the second shipment. Having moved to the US from the UK, I was worried about finding a decent rapid boil kettle, but once again, Braun came through with the goods.
I *love* this kettle and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. I know it's more expensive than some of the other models on the market, but "you get what you pay for". I've bought cheap kettles in the past and have had to replace them every year, which makes it more expensive than splurging on the one really nice one.
I love Braun products and find them very reliable. I also have the professional stick blender - both from the UK and the US.

i bought this kettle for my new apartment, my significant other and i drink a lot of tea and this kettle is great for getting the water ready in a short amount of time. As soon as the water gets hot enough it shuts off and you can take the kettle anywhere with the hot water inside. its great for guests or just to take to the dinner table. Concerning some of the negative reviews : yes the cord is a bit short but you dont need to move the base from the counter so its not an issue, and as for the plastic smell or taste its non existent, i had no such thing. great product a must buy for tea drinkersCustomer Review: So great, we might give it a name!

We've had the kettle a week, and so far love it just as much as everyone else. You can fill it all the way or only a cup, and it boils by the time you prepare your mug or bowl and get out a spoon.
Make sure you follow the instructions so that you don't get a plastic odor on your first uses.
Haven't had to "de-scale" it yet, but we're glad to have the option to do so.
It's also very pretty and ergonomic to use and fill. It IS just boiling water, but if you've had to use a cheap, old or slow one for any length of time, it won't take long for you to fall in love with this one!
