Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Braun WK200B AquaExpress Electric Water KettleCustomer Review: Worth the extra price. Summary: 5 Stars
Just got this unit and love it. Got sick of going back and forth to the microwave to heat water for my tea so decided to finally purchase and electric kettle to keep at my desk. After reading reviews I finally decided to pay a little extra to get this unit. Part of the reason for going with the more expensive unit was because my coworker had a cheaper one and stopped using it because it was so loud. When the water boiled the unit would vibrate and make a lot of noise as the water boiled. This unit does not have that problem. Item is sturdy and well made and pretty quiet. Another advantage of this unit is that there are no coils so cleaning is a cinch. This unit is very easy to use and I would definitely recommend it.
Customer Review: Excellent kettle, but don't pay $200 for it Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this product in April 2009 on Amazon for $79. At that price this is an excellent kettle, very convenient to use and heats up water fast. Comfortable handle, does not spill when pouring, overall its well designed as could be expected from a german design (it's made in Czech Republic though). I use it to make french press coffee and for this a kettle is so much more convenient than heating water on the stove.
However, as I'm writing this review I see that the price has gone up to $199 which I can say this product is definitely not worth. It is a premium product compared to the $20-$30 kettles I've seen but not that much premium. So, at $79 it's a no-brainer but at $199 it's rip-off, simply put.
Customer Review: Boils water in just minutes Summary: 5 Stars
I saw something like this in Ireland at a Bed and Breakfast where they were making tea. I couldn't believe how fast it boiled water. Then, I recently saw this item here in the U.S. and thought it would be perfect for my mother-in-law who loves tea made with boiling hot water. I think she was a little skeptical at first but was amazed that it boiled about 2 cups in about 2 minutes. The automatic shut off is great. And, if you aren't ready for your tea just when it boils, it will shut off, you can leave it and then when you are ready, it boils up again in just seconds. She also loves that it is cordless so that she can fill it up and wash it easily without having to worry about the cord.
Customer Review: Fast Summary: 5 Stars
Used these kettles in England on my vacation. I loved them and had to get one when I came home, everyone had one there....Boiled a full pot of cold water in 5 min. It took 11 for my non-electric kettle to boil with hot tap water. Nice and fast. Boiled a whole pot first and poured it out to clean it then made a cup of tea. The mesh filter comes out to rinse. The lid opens all the way if you hold the button down and push it up, so you can get your hand in to clean it etc. The handle is comfortable to hold and it pours well with no drips.
I recommend this kettle.
update: had it for 2 1/2 years now, use it several times a day with not a problem. Love it.
Customer Review: Not the kettle it once was... Summary: 4 Stars
There's a new kettle in town. I owned this item for 3 years - it made a pot of tea every morning and warmed every infant bottle during that time. But it started cutting in and out while heating so I looked for a replacement. My first choice was to replace it with another, but its now more expensive (65 to 120) depending on the reseller; and more importantly, its underpowered vs. the competition (1500watts vs. 1750watts). So I bought the Krups model instead and haven't looked back. The Braun is still good (4 stars) but the Krups, well it gets my 5-star rating in this category. Either kettle will suit, but sometimes it pays to change - at least my wife tells me so.
