We have had the Braun AquaExpress Electric Water Kettle for over a month and we are very pleased with it. I spent a lot of time reading the Amazon customers' reviews before I made my selection. It is a plastic pot and I appreciate the concerns of those who don't want to use a plastic product, but my husband & I weren't among them. I particularly like the ease and security of the handle. This is important in handling hot water. It is also easy to fill and I can easily see the amounts through the calibrated windows on both sides of the pot. We use it several times a day to heat water in amounts of 1 cup to 7 cups (full capacity) and it is speedy and always turns off. There is only a "click" sound when it turns off, but this is fine with me. If I am out of the room and miss it, it reheats very rapidly. The top doesn't open wide, so I don't know how one would clean the inside, but there is no exposed coil in this one, so the mineral build-up shouldn't be a problem. It has made our mornings easier and I use it to quick start water for cooking too.Customer Review: LOVE THIS! (not easy when I hate gadgets and the Kitchen)

Well maybe its not really a gadget, but its not a pot and a flame either!
I absolutly think its the coolest kitchen item a have along w/ my Black & Decker Spacemaker Coffee maker (love it because it has a separate water container, meaning you DO NOT have to fill the coffee pot then pore "that" into the back of the machine like most, just fill one container. also it shuts off when it is done brewing and has a unbreakable insultated caraf so no chance of leaving it on to start a fire or such..love that!)
OK back to the BRAUN Electric Kettle, so you want boiling hot water and you want it asap, here is your ticket to the "hottest water" highway!
I use it for hot cereal, hard boiling eggs, noodles, coffee, tea, cleaning (soaking).
Shuts off when it hits boiling, no filter to clean, just pore the water in it and set it on the heating unit it comes with, press the button and w/i a few moments your to steaming central.
trust me you will dig this product if you ever need hot water.

I spent a lot of time looking at all the electric kettles and reading reviews. I picked this one and I'm glad I did. I love having water indicator levels on both sides. It's also easy to fill. The spout is large enough to hold it under the faucet, although the water can't be turned on full force because the filter is there (most or all have a filter) or the lid can be tipped up to hold under the faucet. The base remains cool as does the bottom of the kettle so it can be placed on a table. The outside gets very warm but not hot enough to burn if you touch it. There is a small circular metal part on the bottom which is recessed and fits into a circular part in the base, which is the path to heat the water. I love having an electric kettle because it turns off when the water is hot. I didn't like my tea kettle because the whistle was loud and shrill and I had to stay nearby to get it immediately. It pours well. I got the black one and think it looks attactive on the counter.Customer Review: Household products does awesome in professional setting!

Ok So first I have to confess that I use this kettle in a professional setting, in our cafe to make our french press coffee. It gets filled and heated up maybe 20-40 times a day. The first ones I bought lasted about a year and 1/2 the second one is going strong at 6 months. Only a year!? You are thinking, no really that is awsome for a household product in a professional setting. If you were only heating it 1-2 time a day I have no doubt that last forever. It is convienient and easy to use and solid construction.
Why only 4 stars? I wish it heated a little faster 5-7 minutes for a kettle full of cold water (ok I'm demanding but when we are busy we're busy!) But you don't have to fill it all the way up. Also I wish it held the water warm instead of just turning off.
An excellant buy for anyone or family (or cafe) who drinks tea or french press coffee regularly.

I love this water kettle because it works so well and has the automatic shut-off feature, so you do not need to worry about forgetting to switch it off.
It's fast, has a filter for coarser residue, and heats water quickly. It pours nicely and, unless you go entirely overboard due to a lack of patience, never drips. I had this thing in college for teas, soups, and cooking... and it worked then as well as it does now for broth, teas dog food, and pasta... not that you put the pasta into the kettle but it speeds up the cooking of the water. ;)
I can recommend this item, although it has gotten fairly costly... the price is double what I paid for on amazon.com for a J&R version. It looks stylish but is all plastic, which surprised me, since the image hinted at some chrome parts. This does not take from the overall appeal this utensil sports.
