I purchased this mixer after it received high marks from America's Test Kitchen and I must say that I do not regret it. This is the best hand mixer I have ever owned. It is more powerful than the KitchenAid 7 speed (which also got high marks) and it is much cheaper, not to mention the fact that is comes with attachments.
It mixes peanut butter cookie dough as if it were cake mix batter. Egg whites turn out perfect everytime. It doesnt strain nor does it slow down. The motor is not overly noisey and it doesnt cause alot of splashing. The attachments are great as well.
If you are looking for a good quality hand mixer, but balk at paying $69 or more for a KitchenAid, this mixer is definitely an excellent choice.

The motor on this product really packs a punch. I've used it for mixing, chopping, and blending with great success (with one minor exception). Don't worry that it has only three speeds. That's all you really need.Although the instructions say otherwise, I wouldn't depend on this product for much more that a half pound of bread dough (single pizza size). When I tried to mix a pound of dough, the dough ran all the way up the beaters. The motor seemed up to the task though. Still I think I'll stick with my stand mixer since I typically make 2 pounds of bread or more to a batch anyway.
For soups, (non-frozen) blender drinks, small chopping, cookies, egg whites, and host of other tasks, you can't go wrong with this product though.

It doesn't have the power, attachments, or convenience of a KitchenAide; as most meals are smaller, and contrite.
This makes the Braun the ideal kitchen aid for the common weakly meal,
as the Braun gives the extra taste the palate desires for a modular
zest taste; without the dull plain common weekly meal that only KitchenAide, or the Braun provides.
As you can conclude my wife's equal equality in our different hobbies
during 35 years of marriage prefers me to play with one of my many
hobbies; one pleasure is the art of cooking.

Customer Review: Great for small batches of baby food!

I would give this mixer 5 stars, except that I need to buy my third mixer in 11 years. Its nice to have one tool that is a mixer, can make healthy fruit smoothies, AND can make small batches of homemade baby food. I used this small chopper to make baby food for all 4 of my kids, the mixer to make cakes and other things, and the blender for smoothies for the kids. If you have babies, or plan on having them, this is great to have. The bad thing, is that the motor burns out. I don't feel I abuse it, or overuse it, but my first mixer burned out in about 5 years, my second in another 5 years. This is not a long term appliance. My current multimix is a 280 watt, but my first one was smaller wattage I believe.Customer Review: Works so great I bought a second one as a backup...

12/07/06 - MY FIRST BEATER SWITCH FAILED AND IT WON'T WORK AT ALL. THE THING IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TAKE APART SO FIXING IT SEEMS DIFFICULT. I BOUGHT ANOTHER ANYWAY AS THIS IS A GREAT MIXER AND I USE THE WHIPPER FREQUENTLY FOR HOT CHOCOLATE.
2004 - I do not understand the bad reviews...I read this was the quietest mixer and boy it is! I works great and the design is real handy. The drink mixer tool works great for hot choclate, mixing and grinding items for salad dressing and puree of soup. I have had none of the problems others with low reviews give. This is top notch and I find when I locate a great product at a great price I buy a backup because one day I may wear out the one I have.
