I had a Black & Decker hand mixer, which was underpowered and tended to splatter. I also ha a Black & Decker food processor, where cleanup was messy and food tended to stick to the sides of the bowl, resulting in a lot of waste.The Braun M880 mixer attachments feature a unique design which eliminates or minimizes splatter. An onion did not stick to the bowl of the chopper attachment and came out very uniform and finely chopped. I was able to knead dough for a pizza with ease. The amount of power in the blender attachment surprised me at first, tending to create a suction effect and drew the blender toward the bottom of the pot when I blended some tomatoes. The tomatoes also came out very uniform and nicely pureed.
I've replaced two tools with one and have added functionality.
Overall, this is an excellent product with a very clever design.

I love this mixer. I have burnt out 1 -2 mixer per year for at least the past 10 years. I don't have room in my kitchen for a large heavy duty mixer so I like small handheld mixers. Just before Thanksgiving I burnt out yet another mixer and I went to Walmart to replace it. I had purchased at one time or another every single hand mixer they sold. I had burnt them all out in less than a year. I went to Amazon looking for a better durable hand mixer. It was reviews like this that made me purchase the Braun. This mixer is great. I have actually used all the features. I've chopped onions and nuts with the little chopper. My son loves to make his own milkshakes with that attachment. I've used the dough hooks and the regular mixer attachments. I can't say enough good things about this mixer. I just bought a second one for my older son who has his own apartment.Customer Review: reliable workhorse

I bought this mixer more than 3 years ago while I was in cooking school, just starting my classical desserts class. It has the power to work light bread doughs with its dough hooks. Its many attachments make it versatile--I use it to make creamed soup right in the pot or to process small quantities, like a few cloves of garlic. It's quieter than other mixers I've used and owned. Best of all, I was able to buy it for $30 on sale at one of those big home goods stores. I'm glad Braun still sells this model. Cook's Illustrated just rated it highly recommended, 2nd place after a more expensive KitchenAid model. Even though I now own a KitchenAid stand mixer, I keep this around and use it when the mixer's already running or I just need to make up a quick cake batter or cookie dough. If you have troubles with a new one, I think it's well worth replacing!Customer Review: very good small investment for your kitchen

We got this hand mixer about 6 months ago and we have tried most of the accessories included with it. So far we are very happy with all options. It works great for lots of small tasks.It's especially good for preparing food for a small number of people. The small food processor are very handy for chopping/pureeing spices, vegetables and seasoning , good for small amount of mash potatoes; I found it to be quite nice and easy for mincing garlic. Clean up is no problem ..just rinse it and you are good to go.
The mixer is nice and strong, it stands up to thick dough. and it works in any container that fits with in about 4.5 inches wide..just remember it's strong..so it spins fast and if your bowl is not deep enough ..you will re-paint your kitchen!! ;)
Over all we are very happy with this mixer and highly recommend it.

Love the power and that the low speed is low enough to avoid spatter. I've used everything except the dough hooks in the couple of weeks I've owned it and have been pleased with the ease of use and performance of all components. I have a stand mixer as well and this unit is NOT a replacement for it's function but rather a simpler way to handle smaller jobs -- and it does exactly that beautifully.
The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that I received a defective one prior to the one I now own. There was something loose rattling around inside the immersion blender. I don't know if this is a quality control issue or damage during shipping but the box was in good shape so that suggests quality control. Amazon took care of the replacement with no hassles and the second unit works great.
