Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Braun M880 Multimix 4-in-1 Hand MixerCustomer Review: not at all happy becuse of voltaqge error Summary: 3 Stars
Purchased this product after reading all reviews. Some reviews were negative but for the price it still seemed like a good deal. It arrived one day earlier than expected. I looked into the box and everything seemed in order. When I went to use it one day later I was a little disappointed that the beaters had plastic stems instead of metal but figured "Oh well, we'll see" I went to plug it in and was totally surprised to find a 2 prong European plug end. I thought there must be something else in the box. NO. Nothing mentioned in the instructions either. It appeared that the thing was made for use in the USA, Canada & Mexico. After much investigating I finally found on the bottom of the mixer itself that it was a 230 Volt appliance and was NOT usable in the USA at all. I have been to Europe and have a complete set of converters but they would not work for this because they are USA to other. None of them would work 230V to 120V and neither would the plugs work. I am returning it and will not even take a chance buying a replacement. It is not worth the aggravation. How this happened is a puzzle to me.
Customer Review: Handy & Versatile Summary: 5 Stars
I was looking for an immersion blender and purchased this after reading the reviews.
I've had it for about a month and have used everything but the dough hooks. It's super easy to snap together, and also easy to clean and put away. I have a tiny tiny kitchen and this lives in its box above my top shelf of cabinets, but I'm always dragging out the stepstool because this gadget is so useful (I've considered awarding it some of my precious 2 sq feet of counter space, but I really need the coffeemaker out there).
I used to bake banana bread using nothing but a fork and a bowl and a bread pan (really!) and this treat that used to take me over an hour (not including bake time) is now an easy convenience food!!
I've also made my own healthy dip by using the food chopper for veggies and then stirring them into nonfat yogurt, and I use the immersion blender to liquefy my banana/melted butter ingredients because I like my banana bread homogenous.
This thing is fantastic! Highly recommended.
Customer Review: At least as good as it boasts Summary: 5 Stars
When our handmixer died recently, we had to go searching for a new one. Consumer Review rated this one as the best, but I was skeptical, because I just didn't see how a hand mixer could be that different from another.
Boy, was I wrong! This thing is great! I've never used a handmixer as powerful and smooth as this one is. It really does have some kick to it. I regularly make batches of pizza dough (enough for two pizzas), and this mixer can knead the dough until it's completely done.
I like how thin the beaters are, but I've read complaints that they seem wimpy. I agree that they look like they can't do much, but the thickness of the beaters doesn't seem to negatively affect performance. In fact, they may be designed to give the mixer more power. I also noticed that they seem to intentionally lock into the mixer with a little bit of wiggle room. I think this is because the mixer is so powerful that if they were solidly locked into place, they would literally snap off when mixing something thick.
Customer Review: Almost great Summary: 4 Stars
This mixer works really good and has a strong power. If you are lookg for a nice mixer that works with power, this one is for you. It sits nicely of its end like an iron.
I chose this over Kitchenaid's, another of my favorite brands, because it comes with accessories for just about the same price. I use the mini food processor over my big kitchenaid's if food to process is small enough because it is so handy and cleaning is very easy. It works really good. I have not used other accessories yet.
One drawback is that if you do not insert whisks into the body correctly, they fell off while you are mixing. You will hear a click sound when inserted them correctly. But when you are cooking you are so busy you just want to stick them in and use it. It sometime gives you unnecessary frustration.
I like Braun products because of their mature design and no nonsense function. But for me, the level of its product design and color do not come up to the Braun integrity. It looks like a toy.
Customer Review: Does everything, replace it once a year, Summary: 4 Stars
I've gone through about five of these, since with hard use, they break once a year. You'll also need strong wrists to use the dough hooks.
But those are the only negatives. Otherwise, I use it everyday, while the Cuisineart and Kitchenaid gather dust. The dough hooks work much better than paddle mixers in making things like cream cheese or tart doughs. The hand blender and mixer are fast and efficient (faster than the vaunted Bamix, although it won't turn skim milk into a cream or crush ice). The little mouli is also better than those of other products. All moulis will puree rather than chop when overloaded, these blades can handle a bit more than most and can be sharpened on slot style sharpeners.
I wish they built a model from metal, since I go through them at a rate of about one a year (although it's nice to have the extra attachments from the old ones) -- the gears or interlocks tend to break that often with daily use. Otherwise, it's the best kitchen gadget I know of.
