Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Braun KSM2-BLK Aromatic Coffee Grinder, BlackCustomer Review: Not bad, but the Krups works better for us Summary: 4 Stars
A little over 6 months ago we read about the benefits of grinding flaxseed and eating it with cereal, and decided to try it. So we bought this grinder for the purpose, and it worked reasonably well.
However, while staying at a friend's house we tried the same thing with a Krups grinder, and found that
1. it ground the flaxseeds more thoroughly (we think it is because of the oval shape), and
2. it was quieter
We like the Braun's space for cord storage, and the Braun seems sturdy enough, so it's not a bad unit. But we bought the Krups 203-70 and have been using it for a few weeks now, and prefer it.
Customer Review: Still going strong after 5 years Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this grinder back in 1996 at a discount store in New York City. I've used it 3 to 5 times a week since on average. It *is* noisy, as other reviewers have pointed out; however, I've read somewhere that ground coffee keeps up to 7 days, so I grind mine usually in the early evening instead of running the risk of waking people up on weekend mornings ;) As far as grind quality goes, you can easily get the grind you want by pulsing. I use it for my drip coffeemaker and have gotten no complaints from others. All in all, an "iron horse" of a machine, cleans up easily and is an excellent value. If/when it breaks, I'll buy another.
Customer Review: Not too great Summary: 2 Stars
If you don't care about clean-up, even grinding or grinding quality, don't read this review. That said, cleaning this grinder at any point is a major pain. The blade makes it hard to get the grinder well-cleaned. You can't put water in it because the water will seep into the mechanism (which makes one wonder if the grounds are doing the same thing). The coffee is somewhat chunky and very unevenly ground and the quality of it is very poor. I like Braun products generally, but this is a dud. The only reason I give it more than one stars is the fact that at least this one didn't fall apart like the krups one I had owned previously.
Customer Review: Great little grinder! Summary: 5 Stars
We received this coffee grinder as a gift about 5 years ago, and it's still going strong. It's fairly loud but quite fast: in only a few seconds, you can have aromatic, finely ground coffee, and nary a bean in the mix! It's true that the capacity is small, but I've never found this to be a problem, especially since the best coffee requires freshly ground beans. And although the unit is not dishwasher safe, I've never had a problem with cleanup either, as I just rinse out the plastic cup and use a damp paper towel to wipe out the interior. This inexpensive, easy-to-use tool is a perfect addition to your kitchen!
Customer Review: Braun KSM2-BLK Electric Coffee Grinder Summary: 5 Stars
The Braun KSM2 Electric Coffee Grinder is great, couldn't be easier to use, scoop in the beans, put the clear plastic top on, press the black bar down to grind... I press and release the bar several times real quick to allow the beans to drop back down for a more even grind, the process takes two to three seconds. Don't find noise a problem, the unit is only on for a few short bursts.
The grinder takes up very little space..I leave it out on the counter top. The suggestion to unplug the grinder before pouring out the ground beans is a wise procedure to follow for safety sake.
