Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Braun KSM2-BLK Aromatic Coffee Grinder, Black

Customer Review: WOW Great little Grinder!
Summary: 5 Stars

I looked over the reviews here last November and decided on this grinder to pair up with my husband's Black&Decker Brew 'N Go 1-cup Coffeemaker as part of his Christmas gift (2005). Before I recieved it/gave it to him, I ran into an acquaintance at Starbucks while shopping for the whole bean coffee to go with the gift. She's, oh, in her late 30's/early 40's and only confirmed my decision by saying that SHE also has a Braun grinder - the SAME Braun grinder she's had since COLLEGE and she uses it every day and has never had a complaint. Now THAT's a TESTIMONIAL! It's been a full four months for our little grinder and my husband couldn't be happier with his cup of fresh-ground coffee when he wants it. I am VERY pleased with my purchase and so is he!!!!!

Customer Review: Little Workhorse
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought one of these in 1993 and have used it twice daily ever since. The hub developed cracks long ago and I've long feared that the blades would fall off, but so far, so good.

It is true that with finely ground coffee the grounds tend to get compressed below the blade, but I usually stop grinding just before that point. Also, the grounds stick to the lid, so there is invariably a mess when you remove the grounds.
And it does make a horrendous racket. Still how many things can you think of that cost [$$]and have functioned flawlessly every day for seven years straight?

I use it to make strong open-pot drip coffee. [A coffee shop] does not compare. And it is rare that I find coffee in a good restaurant that I prefer.

Customer Review: How to have a good cup of coffee.
Summary: 5 Stars

This little Braun Coffee Grinder is my salvation. I use a French Press pot which requires corser ground coffee than other pots, so that means no pre-ground coffee for this girl. With the Braun,I can individualize the grind and have a great cup of coffee. The grinder is easy to use, and clean. It's cord winding is all manual. You twist it up around the bottom. Other grinders have a cord that must be pushed back and pulled out. 9 ot of 10 0f them don't retract or come out to plug in the electrical socket! I keep my appliances stored in a cabinet, which means cord neatness is necessary. The color of the grinder is not a big deal. Black was cheeper so that is why I chose it over white, or silver.

Customer Review: No Complaints
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a smaller-sized, basic coffee grinder that I would recommend to anyone who wants some custom, freshly ground coffee. We've used the grinder for coffee beans on average, five times a week for the past six months. I can get a nice, fine espresso-like grind from it - really, you control how light or dark you want your coffee. It's just really easy to use (fill the cup, put it on the machine, hold the button down until you've got the grind you want) and we're very happy with it. My father has one, and he drinks about three POTS of coffee every day. His last at least 2-3 years with that kind of use.

It probably would also be excellent for grinding spices.

Customer Review: Great, for the price
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had this little guy for about 5 years and it still works great. After you grind the coffee you turn it upside down so the coffee falls into the lid that acts as a cup from which you scoop the coffee. That lid is nice and big (unlike a similar Salton I have that you could cause to overflow).

Yes, it's loud but it does its work quickly. This is a high-speed blade type chopper. I've heard the purist prefer something that does more of a low-speed crushing rather than high-speed chopping. The theory is that the high speed generates too much heat and can burn the coffee. I haven't noticed any burned coffed taste but I'm not a coffe purist.
