Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Braun KSM2-BLK Aromatic Coffee Grinder, Black

Customer Review: Best I've ever had
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this exact Braun coffee grinder in 1995, and it worked perfectly and gave me now problems whatsoever for the last 16 years. I admit, I abused it. I used it to grind things that were not coffee sometimes. After 16 years, it still looked like it did the day I bought it, but it finally gave up the ghost. It think that is more my fault than Braun's, though, and for any appliance to last 16 years these days is amazing. I have purchased over the years many appliances, and I have come to the point where I refuse to buy any other brand because Braun's are just so much better than anything else out there. They are durable, sturdy, well-designed, and they last a very long time. I choose Braun for my coffee maker and electric razor's also, and I have yet to be disappointed with anything they have put out (I wish I could say the same for other brands!). Do yourself a favor, save yourself the grief, and just get a Braun.

Customer Review: In Search Of . . .
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had this grinder for about three years now and it's slowly dieing. I tend to use it about once a week and have noticed that it's starting to slow down so it must be on its way out. I just thought I'd mention it since there were some reviews saying they had theirs for 15+ years.

It's a little loud, but you are grinding hard beans not jelly beans so that should be expected. So as to not wake the baby, I wrap mine with a hand towel and that's usually all that's needed.
It also does a nice job of quickly making a fine ground.

All and all, it has been a good grinder. I may buy the same one again, but I would like something that lasted a little longer. Still three years for fifteen bucks isn't bad. I may lean towards the Bosch since I really like the brand and have read that their home appliances are some of the best, but that's still to be determined.

Customer Review: Been humming along for over five years now.

I retired from the US Navy over 5 years ago. I can not remember how long I have had this machine. Probably between 1997 and 1999 was when I bought it at a Navy Exchange facility at Yokosuka Japan. I took it with me onboard our ship. It was a permanent accessory in our Chief's Mess. It was a veteran of the Korean Fishing Rights Conflict in 98 and the East Timor uprisings. It ground coffee beans bought in Dubai, Darwin and Singapore. I brought it with me from Japan to the Philippines where it continues to serve my grinding needs efforlessly. I have dropped the lid and it has a crack or two already. The safety feature still works reliably. I have ground coffee beans, and rice. I get the desired results everytime be it for a regular drip blender or a coffee press. I have accidentally dropped it in a soap and water solution. I just rinsed and dried it in fresh water. Did not even skip a beat.

Customer Review: excellent product - does the job
Summary: 5 Stars

I've owned this grinder for 10 years plus and use it frequently for grinding coffee and spices. It does the job well. Yes, it's loud, it's a grinder with hard beans flying around in it!

When I want to grind spices I clean it out first by grinding white rice in it and then wiping it out with a slightly damp paper towel. (Unplug it before wiping it out.) Cleans up very nicely. The lid can be washed out with regular dish soap. Cloves can be a little tough to clean off the inside of the lid, they have a lot of oil that seems to stick more than other spices. Still, I love using fresh spices, so a little extra clean up effort is ok by me. If you want to grind cinnamon in this, break up the sticks first. I don't grind nutmeg in this grinder. I imagine the large nutmeg pods could reek havoc on the blades.

All in all, I'm very satisfied with this product.

Customer Review: simple and efficient
Summary: 4 Stars

bought this grinder recently, and for it's price, this is a definite keeper. it's compact so it takes very little counter space and sturdily built. i love the fact that you can safely wind the cord at the base of the grinder; makes for a very clean storage.

one thing i don't quite like about this grinder is that i can't detach the blade and grinding container from the base. this makes it hard to clean, especially since i use mine to grind spices as well (works like magic). as a struggling student, i can't really afford to get a separate grinder for my spices, not to mention space being an issue, so i make do. however, i guess for its price, this is a great bargain.

with it's sleek construction, yhis is one snazzy addition to any kitchen.
