Who knew all this time I could have been having better coffee at home? This machine makes a great cup of coffee! It's fast, tasty and, uniquely, it is HOT. Finally I can put cream in my cup without having to microwave it. For me a water filter is a must for better tasting coffee and a cleaner coffee maker. The Braun looks nice, too, especially if you have stainless appliances, and it comes with a gold basket filter for those who like those. Highly recommended.
Update: My beloved Braun just died one day, after less than a year of use. I'm not willing to pay $130 for a new one (I think I paid $40 - not sure what happened to the price since then), so I bought a different brand that doesn't deliver quite as much. Too bad Braun's famous engineering has apparently been outsourced, and the durability of its products gone down the drain.

I've been dying for a good cup of coffee ever since the carafe of my old piece of junk blew apart last week. Order the Braun KF590 on Monday and it arrived today, Wednesday. Wow!! Spent just a few minutes setting it up and wha-la!!! Great cup of coffee. I can see after brewing a couple of batches this unit is far more efficient than my old cuz I can throttle back on the caffiene dosage. Also, this must be the first truly dripless carafe I've ever owned. The Krups were so annoying in this regard. Not a big fan of the integrated filters, since I've got to clean it, but that's easy enough to ditch in favor of my paper cones. Also, don't have much use for the built-in Brita filter, which I also bypassed in favor of the filtered water that already comes from my fridge. But I'll keep it stored just in case. I have owned various models of Brawn coffee makers for almost 20 years now. They all have made consistantly good coffee, and have provided good service life. We have been using the KF590E for about 2 weeks now and the coffee is great! The coffee maker brews a full pot quickly, and the coffee is hot and flavorful. The stainless and black design looks great on the counter, even the wife was pleased.
My reasons for 4 vice 5 stars are that E-tonics took 2 full weeks to deliver this coffee maker, and there is an annoying opening at the rear of the cold water tank that forces you to measure no more than 10 cups of cold water prior to filling, otherwise water dribbles on the counter. Without the hole this maker would easily brew 12 cups, which all of my other Braun's were capable of. All things considered this coffee maker is a keeper.

When our old Braun coffee maker quit I was determined to get only another Braun as I had been so happy with my other one! THis is not true of the new one. The new one has a smaller pot which is a big deal when you brew 6-8 pots per day. The new style pot LEAKS!!!! One of the best features of the old machine was unlike Mr. Coffee it didn't leak all over the counter each time you poured a cup. Stock up on paper towels! The new and improved brew basket pops out of place on it's own often. Nice mess that makes. I bought the original Braun based on Amazon users review. At that time one of the biggest "features" was it actually kept hot coffee hot. The new one does not seem to do as good a job. And oddly it seems that it takes longer now to brew 10 cups then it did with the old one that brewed 12. I sure wish I had the old one back!Customer Review: Braun replacement coffee maker

We purchased this coffee maker as a replacement to the Braun Flavor Select model which stopped working after 10 years of use.
While we do like this pot, there are some options that this pot does not have which our old one did. There is no longer a 12 cup model. The new one is only 10 cups. One of the features we really liked on the old one was the 2 temperature warming plate which is no longer avalible. We also miss the flaver select feature that is not on this model. While we do enjoy the timer feature that you can set so your coffee is ready when you wake up in the morning, it takes much longer than the old model to brew a pot of coffee.
All in all it is a good product, just not as good as you would expect a replacement model to be. When upgrading a model I feel you should add features not take them away.
