Customer Review: huge disappointment, Braun isn't what it used to be
Summary: 1 Stars

I searched high and low to find a Braun coffeemaker locally, to replace the Braun I have and love. Mine is about 10 years old, but has great features, such as filtered water, heat settings for brewing, heat settings for warming. In addition to the usual features of stop brewing when you take out the pot, and timers etc.. It is easy to fill, and makes really great coffee with a choice of brew strengths.
The new pot I bought makes absolutely horrible coffee. The water just pours straight throught the middle of the grounds so it wastes coffee and has little flavor. If using the gold filter the coffee is full of sludge, even when I went out and bought it ground much coarser. If you use a paper filter the coffee has no flavor at all. The stainless on the ouside is good looking but makes it difficult to get the inside really clean as it doesn't appear dishwasher safe. Overall, this pot lacked any great features and made absolutely horrible coffee. Sorry I tried so hard to get another Braun, never again.

Customer Review: finally replaced it
Summary: 4 Stars

I have used this machine for a little over a year and half and it has performed quite well. I replaced it with a cuisinart machine and felt compelled to finally review it.

PROS: This machine brews fast and flavorful coffee and is very aesthetically pleasing. I like the permanent gold tone filter and the water filter is a nice touch (although I quit using it.)

CONS: Since I usually make small amounts of coffee (4 cups) I usually had to make more to compensate for the lack of heat since brewing 4 cups on this machine produced coffee that wasn't quite hot enough. Also over time the heating plate must've started to go bad because it hardly kept the coffee hot in the carafe. I stopped using the brita filters because they were expensive and hard to find and started using a brita pitcher instead.

Overall I got good use from this coffeemaker and am pleased with its performance. I am moving on to a cuisinart because of the "1-4" cup feature that ensure hot water in small batches.

Customer Review: Not Charmed by our Third Braun
Summary: 1 Stars

We purchased the KF590 coffeemaker because of our satisfaction with our existing Braun coffeemaker (and a previous one) and because its attractive black-and-stainless styling would look good in our newly redone kitchen. It brewed coffee fairly quickly but the coffee had a strong metallic taste which moderated after about a month of use. The push button basket release sometimes failed to release. At other times the basket opened unexpectedly during the brewing cycle with disastrous results. The unit required frequent cleaning to prevent the basket from overflowing during brewing. But the most annoying failing was the carafe's automatic dribble feature. Pouring the first cup of coffee was always an adventure. Some of the coffee went into the cup but some ran down the pot onto the counter or tabletop. After two months experience we retired the KF590 and replaced it with a Mr. Coffee. It has attractive black-and-stainless styling also, but it makes tasty coffee without disasters and messes.

Customer Review: Best Coffee Maker
Summary: 5 Stars

I spent a month reviewing different drip coffee makers and ordered this model from Amazon. Works great. I realised after reading dozens of reviews that the people who have over flow problems with their makers, regardless of models, are using fine coffee grounds. Doye!

A drip maker needed coarse grounds, not super fine grounds, or else it will clog your drip valve and spill hot water all over your counter. I would recommend people to grind their own beans if possible, this will help with optimum freshness.

So after 8 months of consistent use, here are my observations:

The programmable feature is fabulous. The flavor is good and the water comes out nice and hot. There's the filter that I rinse and put right back. All the parts that you want to wash are removable, quickly and without any fuss. I'm thinking about getting a better flavor by using a paper filter in addition to the regular metal filter. I highly recommend this item.

Customer Review: Great Coffee Maker
Summary: 5 Stars

Maybe its the engineer in me but I was solely looking for a coffee pot that brewed a great cup of coffee as fast as possible. I used to have a Mr. Coffee and it was *painfully* slow. After reading some reviews, I decided to buy this coffee maker based on the claim that it brewed pretty fast. It does. For 6 cups of coffee, this maker brewed twice as fast as my Mr. Coffee (its been a couple months since I did this but I recall time being a bit over 2 minutes for 6 cups). I will say that I was using paper filters in my Mr. Coffee and the Braun had the wire filter that came with the product. The Braun was already dripping coffee while Mr. Coffee was sitting around thinking about what to do. The time was a bit slower on the Braun once I used a paper filter but its still fast. Coffee tastes great! I haven't had issues with dripping or leaking. I'm totally stoked with this purchase! If fast coffee is important to you - you'll like this coffee pot.
