Customer Review: Nothing ever stays the same.....
Summary: 2 Stars

I am so unhappy with the dripping carafe, the over-fill hole in the back of the storage tank and lukewarm coffee. I needed to replace my Braun KF185 FlavorSelect 12 cup coffeemaker and thought since it lasted forever, I would continue with a new Braun KF590 and even bought 12 extra water filters and a replacement carafe (just in case). What a disappointment! Brand spanking new out of the box and I needed to use it immediately for weekend guests. After getting everything washed & ready with a new water filter I thought maybe I had poured the water into the reservoir too quickly from the carafe as it splashed all over the counter. No, it did the same thing when I poured freshly brewed coffee into the cup. Unless you pour it very slowly, the carafe dribbles all over the place. What a way to ruin beautiful table linens! I had already tossed the box or I would have returned it. I even went so far as to email Braun directly and I received the following reply....."Thank you for sharing your disappointment with our product. Our goal is to produce high quality products that consistently delight our consumers and I'm sorry this wasn't your experience. Please be assured I'm sharing your comments with the rest of our team. Please do try to pour slowly and evenly with the carafe as this will help with the spillage. Thanks again for writing. P&G Team". Bummer! Braun won't miss me as a customer.

Customer Review: Great little pot!
Summary: 4 Stars

I replaced a Braun KF180 FlavorSelect 12-Cup Coffeemaker with this coffeepot.
I wish they didn't discontinue the KF180, but the KF590 makes just as good a cup of coffee as my old one.

I like that you can remove the whole basket for more convenient filling of the coffee and that the top where the water goes opens from the front and not the back. On the 180 I had to almost turn the pot all the way around to fill it.

I can't figure out why the little hole on the back under the lid is there...if you overfill it with water, it leaks out.

When pouring coffee or water from the carafe when it's full, it tends to leak unless you pull the lid almost all the way open, not a big deal I guess, but my husband always leaks coffee when he pours the first cup in the morning.

The coffee is always steaming hot, even though there's no temp control like my old one.

As far as keeping water in it all night to brew on the timer in the morning...my old one began to leak water out in the night after a few years of use...corrosion from the water probably. I'm hoping this one doesn't do that.

Lastly, I'm disappointed that Braun doesn't make a 12 cup pot anymore.
Other than that, I'm happy with the pot, it's function and the flavor and temperature of the coffee.

Customer Review: Miss my old Braun...
Summary: 3 Stars

I recently purchased the Braun KF590 to replace my 11 year old Braun coffeemaker. It works fine-makes good coffee once you figure out just how much coffee you need to use to get it "just so" (just so=works for you, since everybody's coffee tastes are unique). I miss the coffee flavor selector my old one had. I have found the right amount of cups to coffee ration, so for me now it's fine. I sought out another Braun because it lasted so long, but it was quite a chore to locate one, and I'm very disappointed in the pricepoint. I guess I could feel better about the 100 bucks if it lasts at least half as long as it's predecessor. And yes, my little filter release button is flaky...apparently it likes to have weight in the basket in order to function properly. After all, it's only plastic, and not a big bother to guide the empty basket out. In the long run, my guidance will help the little button stay intact. So overall, makes pretty good coffee, costs a bit more than it should, keeps it hot longer than 2 hours when programmed (another feature I wanted-I hated being boxed into a 2 hour time frame on my lazy Saturday mornings). I have not experienced the "burned" tase you can get from it being on the hotplate so long, another feature I enjoyed with my old one.Overall, not too bad, unless it breaks...

Customer Review: Worst. Coffeemaker. Ever.
Summary: 1 Stars

So, my beloved Cuisinart was broken. I decided to get the Braun KF590 because my brother had one. He had bought it because of its sleek looks and speedy coffee making ability. My brother and I share a love of coffee, so I figured if it was a good choice for him, it would be good for me, too.

However, within hours of pressing the Amazon "order" button, my brother informed me that he was tossing his Braun KF590 because its pause & serve function didn't work and would leak coffee all over the counter. He owned his for 2 years.

I received mine a few days after this news. The very first time, I used the Braun KF590, I had a waterfall of hot coffee dripping from my counter onto the floor. I didn't even use the pause & serve function!!!!

I only made coffee with it three more times because I thought my previous coffeemaker (Cuisinart) was broken. Lucky for me, the Cuisinart needed a thorough decalcifying because the Braun flooded my kitchen with coffee each time I used it.

This coffeemaker is back in its original box, sitting on a basement shelf as a reminder that German engineering is not always a good thing. I consider this item to be a total waste of my money and time.

I will never buy a Braun coffeemaker again!!!

Customer Review: Tasty Coffee, LOTS of leaking
Summary: 2 Stars

I did my homework when I bought this coffeemaker. I read customer reviews, and trusted the good name of Braun since they make great coffee accessories. A month later, I'm shopping for something else.

This coffee maker seems to be designed for some other substance than liquid water because every action on it leads to puddles on the countertop. When it brews the coffee, it releases the fluid too quickly into the carafe, which causes usually about a cup of water to leak out (from my average 7-cups) while brewing. This is a full cup of coffee. On my counter. Then when you go to pour what precious coffee you have left into mugs, it's impossible not to spill even more. The spout on the carafe is very narrow, and in my opinion curved incorrectly. I'm sometimes able to not spill any while pouring if I do so very slowly. Unfortunately that kind of hand-eye coordination and patience don't come easy at 7 in the morning.

On the upside, it does make tasty coffee, and the water filter is nice. I hate to give it such a bad review, but it really is terribly designed. Anecdotally, when I complained about my coffeemaker to my father, the first thing he asked is "Is it a Braun? Yeah, they leak." I'll be going with a different brand this time around.
