I love my cowboy hat shaped borner safety holder. The metal pegs hold the veg very securly and the brim protects not just your fingers but the side of your hand too. After 20+ years I finally had to replace my mandoline and couldn't find a borner in town, so bought another brand. The saftey holder was rubish and I cut myself twice before discovering that I could order the borner one by itself. I also use this when grating cheese on the box grater, no more blood-tinged pizza.Customer Review: unwieldy

I find this holder very difficult to use. It does not hold food securely nor is it comfortable to grip if you have small hands. The design--at least when used with the v-slicer--does not allow you to slice most items all the way through.
I would look for a different safety holder or try a steel mesh glove instead.

The only problem with this safety holder is that it should have been included with the wave/waffle slicer and the V-slicer. These tools are DANGEROUS to use without the holder, so why charge money for it separately?
Makes me feel like I'm being manipulated, so no 5 stars...

It is a little hard to get the small pieces of something into the slicer, but besides that, I really enjoy it. You should know that the slicer comes with one of these, so you don't need to buy it unless you lost your! I wish I had known that...I have 2...Customer Review: Tricked by another review

An earlier review warned that the V-Slicer did not come with a safety holder and it had to be ordered separately, so I did.
The V-Slicer did in fact come with the safety holder, so I have 2. It's not a lot of money, but it is a waste.
