Customer Review: Rustic elegance

The Bormioli Rocco Murano Cobalt Blue is a beverage glass with rugged elegance. Made from toughened glass in Spain according to the manufacturer, this glass is dishwasher safe. Our glasses have been through the dishwasher several times with no breakage or fading. Even with no bubble wrap in the manufacturer's box (though some in the shipping box), these glasses arrived safely with no chips or breakage.
The glass is thick and sturdy. As the glass is heavy to hold, it might not be the best choice for those with arthritis, but those like myself who have the bad habit of knocking over glasses, the extra weight is a plus. The diameter of the glass is quite wide for those with small hands, a comfortable fit for adults with small hands like myself as well as larger hands. I am not sure this glass would be comfortable in the hands of a younger child, however, due to the wide circumference. This weighty glass does not easily tip over from the slightest slip of the hand. For that reason, these glasses would be of use on bedside tables or next to keyboards.
The surface has a very slight texture rather than a pure smooth feel, also making the glass less slippery. The cobalt blue swirl gives a bit of elegance to this otherwise rustic glass. Arty yet functional and rustic, these glasses are a fun addition for those looking for something a bit different. The blue swirl that covers one side of the glass is indeed quite a rich deep blue. Light shining through the blue gives it an even nicer, richer appearance. Although the glass holds almost 15 ounces, with ice, a 12 oz soda or tea can will not completely fit in one pouring. Living in the dry climate where one seems to drink fluids continuously, I might have preferred a slightly bigger glass for my desk glass but the size is perfect for most needs. The glasses make a wonderful complement to my deep blue dinnerware. For this price, I was quite thrilled if not shocked by the exceptional appearance and the quality of this glassware.
