Customer Review: Excellent for sourdough starter

Lovely jar. I use it for my sourdough starter because it's the perfect size. Due to its squared-off shape, it fits better in a corner of the refrigerator than a typical round one. The only thing which could be better is if it were shorter and wider, but held the same amount. It would be smart of you to buy the Danish stirrer pictured with the jar (get a small) to make stirring the starter up more easily when you feed it.
Some have mentioned that it comes apart. It's supposed to, so that the jar can be easily filled and cleaned when used for canning. The metal fits cleanly back in so that's no problem. In fact, I recommend that you take it apart for each cleaning.
This was a great purchase, and since I don't pay postage, it was cheaper than anywhere else I found it on line.
