Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of BonJour Creme Brulee Chef's Culinary Torch with Fuel Gauge, Brushed Aluminum

Customer Review: Cool Torch
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this torch it has a brushed aluminum body, weighs, and feels pretty solid. I like how it has a nice consistant flame that keeps going until you release the button. You can also adjust the flame so that you have a large flame or a small flame for what ever you are trying to achieve. The only drawback would be that it uses up a lot of butane fluid which can be costly (well atleast where I live, the only place i can buy butane lighter fluid is in cigar shops) but then again this is my first torch and do not really know if all the others use up alot fluid as well. However, I am still happy.

Customer Review: Good value for the price!
Summary: 5 Stars

This torch works really well! It's easy to fill with butane and it is incredibly easy to use. I have to disagree with some of the other reviewers that commented about the safety lock being difficult to use...I think the safety lock is intuitive and does not get in the way of using this torch. The feature that allows this torch to stay on until turned off with the switch is really convenient for things like creme brulee where you need to have the torch on for an extended period. I was able to torch 13 creme brulees before the fuel needed refilling. I'd say it's pretty efficient!

Customer Review: Perfect for light-medium kitchen duty
Summary: 5 Stars

BonJour has a winner for simple kitchen applications such as 'torching' a creme brulee. It is user friendly, sits securely in the removable stand and the fuel indicator window makes the entire process of filling the tank with butane and/or monitoring the level of useage easy and worry-free. I think it would have been fun if Bonjour had added a couple 'torch' suggestions, but that's not critical. I like this torch a lot! It does not come standard with fuel and is empty when shipped but butane can be found just about at any hardware or 'Target' like store.

Customer Review: Filling it is not easy
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought butane in a large can but it does not fit the fill nozzle on the torch so it was a waste. I will go back to the store and try the other butane canister which was only 1/4 the size but the same cost, made for cigarette lighters by Zippo.
1. Why don't the instructions clearly say what kind of pressurized butane cans fit this device.
2. Why didn't they design it so that the most common butane canisters, used for stoves, fit it?
This may lead to me returning it. More later if an update is possible.

Customer Review: Solid Chef Torch
Summary: 4 Stars

I was looking for a torch primarily for making creme brulee. This one got good reviews on Amazon so I figured I would give it a try. I have only used it a few times but it works well for making the brulee. It is made solidly and puts out a strong flame. I was in a department store and picked up a different brand of torch, which felt very cheap compared to this BonJour Torch. The fuel gauge is a nice additional feature included with this torch. I am happy with the purchase of this torch.
