Customer Review: perfect for tea in winter

My house is pretty cold in the winter, and I love drinking hot tea. The problem is that my tea is generally cold by the time I've drunk only 2/3 of the cup. So, I purchased these Bodum cups. The double layer of thermal glass serves as the perfect amount of insulation. My tea stays hot long enough for me to enjoy the whole cup, and the outside layer is cool enough to hold even when the tea is first poured in.
I like the aesthetics of the cups; but I really like the way they feel in my hand. They're an excellent size for an average adult's hand and have a pleasant shape.

These sounded like a wonderful solution to 'sweating' glasses, and also to keeping drinks cold longer. Regrettably, they were just too delicate for words. We always babied them, having read some of the negative reviews. We gently hand-washed and hand-dried with fine cotton dishtowels, and always put ice in gently, by hand, cube by cube (never held one under the fridge's ice dispenser). Now, two have broken on the INSIDE, after we had been sitting with them awhile -- which could have been dangerous! Had we not noticed, one of us could have swallowed some broken glass. I love the design of these glasses. They look great. Unfortunately, whenever I purchase items like this I seem to always end up with something made by one of the less accomplished artisans. In this case, one of the glasses I received has a noticable slant to the inner area that makes it less attractive while the second glass has air bubbles along the rim. This is dissapointing when you are paying a premium for design.
Others have mentioned how light they are. This is true. I was almost afraid to hold them in my big, meaty paws. I will have to see how they hold up.
Customer Review: Form AND Function -- Not as Fragile as others Claim!

I bought 4 of these tumblers about 6 months ago. I use them daily and love them! I'm not overly careful while using the glasses yet none have broken. I find them to be quite resilient and very beautiful (especially when filled with coffee).
I expect that the reviewers who gave them poor reviews were careless with them and, therefore, should stick to acrylic tumblers. Please keep in mind that these are GLASS and not indestructible before posting negative reviews. Glass (borosilicate or not) does tend to break when dropped or when metal objects are dropped onto it!

I purchase a 8 complete sets of these Glasses ... Tumblers / shots / tall beverage glasses and Juice glasses ... hundres of dollars of glasses ... they are thin and cheep glasses ... they will break if you lightly tap them on a counter ... do not put ice in them from your ice maker on your refrig. door ... that will crack them too ... do not put them in the dishwasher that will break them too ... bottom line I had them for 2 months and got so tired of cracks and broken glass I threw all of them away ... don't waist your money on these ... way to cheep and thin for any usage .....
