Customer Review: Glass chips while drinking

I had a serious problem with one of these glasses and wrote (see below) Bodum Customer-Service and also Sales; but received no reply from either:
Subject: Questions about products, their use, care or warranty
I am a long time user of Bodum double-wall glassware and recently purchased an additional 8 oz glass set. Upon using one of the new glasses for the first time with an iced drink, the rim of the glass broke off several small pieces as I drank. I spit out two of the fragments (don't know if I swallowed any). Would you like the damaged glass returned for inspection? Please advise.

I use these daily for cappuccinos, and I love them. The insulation value is very good, and they look and feel great. They claim to be made of a different type of glass that is tougher than normal glass. This may be true, but this glass also seems slicker than normal glass when wet. I have had one slip out of my hands while washing it. Now that I am aware of this difference, I always pay attention while washing them. I haven't had any problems since. (I can't bring myself to put them in the dishwasher - even though they are supposed to be dishwasher safe.) Buy and enjoy, just be careful when they are wet.Customer Review: Nice aesthetics, but too fragile!

We recently bought these in the 12oz size. They are really fun to use; I enjoy the novelty of pouring boining water in to the thin glass and picking it up immediately, and I like watching as steamed milk mingles with my espresso. The problem is that the glasses are too fragile. Two came out of our dishwasher cracked within the first week of use.
I did love these glasses initially, and I still regularly use the two out of four that remained intact. I suppose if you're willing to baby them, they may be worth having . . . I'm still not sure myself whether or not I'll replace the broken glasses.

I love these glasses. I use them primarily for tea (they match my glass teapot perfectly). They work just as described: the insulation is excellent and the liquid does seem to float. The material seems to be quite durable, but somewhat "slippery" (it seems that the glass they are made of is not your regural window glass).
On the downside, they don't fit quite well in my hands (I am a petite female with small hands), and have to hold them with both hands when sipping tea.
Overall, the glasses will create quite a stir when you showcast them to your friends. An excellent conversation piece!

I purchased these glasses for my boss who had an imcomplete set. He was over-the-moon when he received them; so much that he asked me to order an additional set. These were more affordable at Amazon than anywhere else and I was pleased with how quickly I received them. A few reviews mentioned how fragile these are, but, like any fine glass, you should respect that they are hand-blown and treat them as such. The double wall system is fabulous for keeping hot things hot and cold things cold - simply amazing! Don't hesitate to buy these. My boss was so impressed, maybe I'll get a raise!
