I bought a set of these for my husband for his morning espresso as he was complaining that regular mugs allowed his espresso to cool too fast. Not only are these glasses interesting to look at, they don't carry heat or cold to your hand from your drink, cold stays cold and hot stays hot. I've never had a problem with the area from the glassblower seeping in water in the dishwasher, perhaps this is due to the hand-made nature of the product. Somewhere a glassblower could be out of work for your leaky cups. I recommend, a great buy! Additionally, if you're like me and enjoy beer at a proper temperature to the last sip, the larger glasses are perfect!Customer Review: Love the Bodum 8.5 ounce DOF tumbler

We use these 8.5 ounce tumblers for coffee and hot tea. They keep beverages nice and hot but don't feel hot in your hand. Very ergonomic, they cup nicely in your hand. We have not experienced the breakage problems other viewers mention. Out of a set of six we have lost two in the last year.
One developed an unexplained crack, the other was dropped in a sink - they are glass people. These are used daily and we hand wash them like you would any fine glassware. Like other reviewers I wouldn't recommend banging them with a spoon or dropping ice in them. Everyone who uses them is impressed by the serious cool factor - very sleek.

I totally love these glasses. I had them for over 3 months now and I enjoy them immensely. Not only they are awfully pretty to look at when they are full, they also keep drinks hot for a long time (I use them mostly for drinking tea). Having read others' reviews on here before I bought them, I never put them in the dishwasher but on a couple of occasions accidentally dropped them to the carpet or hit them with another glass while picking something up and nothing happened so far(knock on wood!). I fell in love with these cups the first time I held them in my hands.
With piping hot coffee suspened in beautiful clear glass, I was mesmerized. So began my ill fated love affair with these glasses. In space of few months I went through 6 of them. Yup...SIX...urgh!!!
I couldn't resist. Even when they broke into little pieces at every bump or ill fated couple inches of drop in my sink, I had to get another set.
Nothing kept my hot drinks longer than these beauties...even now I keep them in my amazon cart and feel the flutter in my heart that longs to hold them again...I must resist...I must resist...

I purchased the Bodum Pavina 8.5-Ounce Double-Wall Thermo specifically for coffee; but frankly, I'm disappointed.
Maybe it should have been obvious, but the rim/lip of the cup is just not good for drinking because the lip is too thick. Yes, the double glass is necessary for insulation, but at the very top the two pieces of glass need to be joined together for ,25 inch then formed into a lip for drinking.
I'm used to good mugs where the lip is rolled out just slightly - and this certainly could have been done with the Bodum Pavina. Bodum needs to go back to the drawing board!
