Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bodum Chambord 3 cup French Press Coffee Maker, 12 oz., ChromeCustomer Review: European 3 cups Summary: 5 Stars
This is pretty easy to use and clean. We bought whole coffee beans and ground them up ourselves (to obtain the coarse grounds needed for the press).
This 3-cup coffee press produces 3 shots of espresso, the kind you get in the little cups at a yuppie coffee place.
Because you use 3 scoops of coffee grounds and about 12 ounces of hot water, the end product is pretty powerful.
This is the perfect size coffee press for two people.
The actual apparatus is also very easy to clean. Coffee grounds slides off from the insides with only the use of tap water.
Oh, and we didn't have any trouble with squirting of dangerous hot liquids in faces. :)
Customer Review: Beautiful design Summary: 5 Stars
This was a gift for my wife because some mornings she wants coffee while I prefer black tea, so no need to turn on coffee maker for just a cup of coffee. This is a great way to make perfect coffee, just make sure your coffee is freshly ground, that it was recently toasted, the correct grind, the correct proportion of coffee to water and bam! Perfect coffee for one. You can use your microwave oven to heat the water or we can use a hot pot of water if she is drinking coffee and I am drinking tea.
There were many design options, more modern ones but she preferred the classic style. Bodum has a design for everyone.
Easy to use, easy to wash, no big place to store.
Customer Review: Not as good as I hoped.. Summary: 3 Stars
I feel getting the "right" cup of coffee is somewhat difficult. The three cup pot is fairly small, not filling a good sized mug. The coffee tends to be weak, which surprised me. For a good strong cup of coffee, you need to use ALOT of coffee, or let it steep for so long, the coffee gets cold.
The shape of the pot is long and narrow, which makes it hard to clean. Stirring with a metal spoon is not encouraged for risk of damaging the pot; (I wasn't planning on buying a box of long plastic spoons..)The product is of good quality, but I wish the coffe it produced was as good. I am going to try it with tea, which would probably work out better. Overall, I am disappointed.
Customer Review: French Press Coffee -- Why take the time. Summary: 4 Stars
For ideal coffee using a French press is the best method. It takes a bit more time and effort, but results in much better tasting coffee. This is because due to the lower temperatures and the lack of a paper filter the coffee oils stay in tact. This adds a lot of flavor to the coffee that is lost otherwise.
As for this French press in particular: size does matter. If you make enough coffee that you aren't drinking by the single mug then just get a bigger press. I drink about a pot and half of coffee most week days and find the effort required to use this smaller press a hassle. As such I just keep this press at home and only use it in the evenings.
Customer Review: Great Single Cup Coffee Press Summary: 4 Stars
This coffee press is very nice. Easy to clean, looks good & makes delicious coffee. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that it does not make three cups... It has a one cup capacity, unless you have really tiny cups, maybe french style cups or something. I suppose I should have researched further to find the ounce capacity of this press. I don't mind too much though because I tend to just make it extra strong, so one cup suffices. I'd recommend this to anyone who drinks one or two cups at a time, but if you want more coffee or plan on making coffee for company then consider the eight cup (which is really about three American cups) or larger press.
