Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bodum Chambord 3 cup French Press Coffee Maker, 12 oz., ChromeCustomer Review: best dern cup o coffee ever Summary: 5 Stars
I loves me coffee press! its really great if you have a garbage disposal and you can just wash the ground coffee away with ease. it says coarse ground only, but if your gentle you can get away with espresso grind (which my boyfriend bought by mistake) This is the way coffee must be consumed. I used to drink like a pot of drip brewed coffee throughout the day but this little baby has helped me cut down a lot. The "3" cupper makes about one decent american sized mug, and i usually just heat the water in my microwave for 2 minutes or even let the hot water get really hot from the tap if i'm feeling lazy. any-who one or two pressed french roast coffees does me in and i have a lot more counter space. thank you bodum chambord for being da bomb! love, chris
Customer Review: Easy and Delicious Coffee Summary: 5 Stars
I was never a huge coffee drinker, but as a grad student in engineering, I really needed a way to stay awake on those numerous all-nighters. This is perfect- it takes less than ten minutes, and at the end you have an excellent cup of coffee. Maybe it's because I use a bad coffe grinder, but some of the smaller grounds get through the filter and into my drink - but BOY does that ever shock me awake. I recommend Trader Joe's Columbian coffee- it's truly amazing.
SUMMARY: This product is easy to use, and gives you delicious coffee.
ONE DOWN SIDE: This model is really small. This is perfect for me, but if I have guests over, then making coffee becomes time-consuming.
ANOTHER PLUS: It's so cute! Just look at it!
Customer Review: French Press Coffee maker Summary: 4 Stars
This is a great little coffee press, and I do mean little. The only reason that I don't give it 5 stars is because it only makes one "cup" of coffee. By the time you take the grounds into consideration there is only about 8-10 ounces of coffee. This is slightly less than a typical mug. I like it when I only need to make a cup for me, but when I have others, it is just not a solution. Once you have invested the time into grinding the beans. heating the water, waiting for the 3-4 minute brew time, and heating the cream, you may want more coffee. I intend to keep this one, since I often just want one cup of coffee, and buy another one for 4 persons. If you don't already have one, get a burr grinder; fantastic coffee with this and the French press.
Customer Review: Flawed components Summary: 1 Stars
The glass beaker of the first press that I recieved was broken at the base when I recieved it. This breakage was in spite of no apperent damage to the box it came in. I contacted Amazon and they promptly sent a replacement.
The beaker of the replacement press was fine and I use the press for making tea three or four time during the first 24 hours in my posetion. I was mindful to be careful of the beaker during handling. Then on the last usage I noticed a crack extending the lenght of the the beaker. The second beaker had also failed!
Nice idea but execution is badly flawed and a better, more robust beaker design is needed. I would not give it any star but that would look like I had not rated it.
Customer Review: A Great Cup of Coffee Summary: 5 Stars
I just got the 3-Cup Press today and I'm sitting here typing this review with my first cup of coffee made using it.I love getting lattes from coffeshops but I've never been able to make one at home, until now. This coffee press does a great job of brewing an incredibly delicious cup of coffee! And for jmpkep from CT who asked about the occasional coffee drinker: I'm like you- I drink coffee maybe once a week, not more than one or two cups. Conventional coffeemakers are usually too big & bulky & hard to clean for me. This works great. Cleanup is easy too- Just rinse it out, or handwash... I don't know if it's dishwasher-safe or not, but I'll be handwashing mine, just to be safe.
