Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bodum Brazil 8 cup French Press Coffee Maker, 34 oz, BlackCustomer Review: Amazing coffee Summary: 5 Stars
Just bought this today. I'm now drinking the best coffee I've ever been able to make at home. The only thing I can see as being a downside is it will be a small pain to have to clean this every time. But it's so worth it - because of this coffee.
A standard size (American?) coffee mug is 16oz and this will make 32oz of coffee at once. You could make 4 smaller cups, but I don't see myself making 8 cups (tiny!) of coffee with one press.
The instructions say to only use course coffee grounds to avoid clogging the filter. It comes with a scoop and I use 8 scoops to make one pot. I haven't tried it yet, but I may see how it turns out if I reuse the grounds for one more pot after using them once.
Customer Review: Great product for the price Summary: 4 Stars
I recently bought the Brazil press, and so far it's been fantastic -- no cracks or chips in the beaker (knock on wood), no ill-fated high-pressure explosions -- nothing but great-tasting coffee.
I do have two minor complaints:
1) It's much harder to clean the grounds out than I expected (but I think that is probably true of any press pot)
2) There is no way this makes 8 6-ounce cups of coffee. Note that the description says 8 cups, but 4 US cups! I make about half of the pot, and it fills one mug with room for cream.
Otherwise, I love it! I am so happy I went with this instead of buying a new drip coffee maker -- better coffee, and it even takes up less space.
Customer Review: Amazing! Indestructable & Easy to Clean Summary: 5 Stars
I've had his french press for a few weeks, and have used it about 20 times (at least). The reason we bought this press was because my boyfriend is strong like the hulk, and BROKE a glass french press- yes with his bare hands- when he was trying to clean it. No, not under hot water. So, the idea of an "indestructable" coffee press seemed like a good idea.
It truly is indestructable. I can wash it immediately after using- something you can't do with glass. Then, I just throw it in the dishwasher. There hasn't been a problem yet and I've used it every weekday morning for like 4 weeks. To me, it's just as elegant looking as the glass ones, but I always prefer function over form with appliances.
Customer Review: Excellent Coffee Summary: 5 Stars
I make a lot of coffee in this rad little french press. I keep this guy in my suitcase and use it to make coffee in my hotel room everyday day I'm on the road. It's seen a couple hundred uses and is still going strong. I typically make two batches a day and it's held up well. They are all delicious.
Cleaning: It's really easy to clean. Occasionally I'll have to take the plunger unit apart to get all the crevices clean but this is typical of any french press.
Sturdy: This is a sturdy product. I keep it in my checked bag for each flight and it's stood up the the bag tossers.
Multi Use: I also use it at home to make large batches of tea. It's great.
Customer Review: I LOVE the way the coffee tastes from a french press! Summary: 5 Stars
As a constant coffee drinker, I started researching the best way of brewing coffee. After discovering that a french press is the best way to make a cup of joe, I decided to buy this model since it was inexpensive and has had a history with the company. And the company itself tends to make great products. I don't believe that another french press is going to make a difference as the chemistry portion of making coffee with this french press and another french press is the same. Save your money and just purchase this model, unless you want something with a different style. But even with that statement, this french press isn't ugly either and is actually attractive on my counter top.
