Customer Review: Worst french press I've ever had

Worst stylish piece of junk.
OK, this kind of statement should be explained, right? Well, here is my experience.
First, 3-cup? I believe, there in US we have kind of standard for a cup size, it is common to have 8-oz in volume. Given that, you will get 1-cup, but actually even less, read on.
Material. Glass beaker, do not have problem with that. Metallic shaft, mesh, everything else is plastic, and not nicest one. Do not like plastic, it is odor magnet and can not easily removed like from stainless steel. Oily/greasy stuff loves to stick to that plastic and again you have to make an effort to clean. And given bad construction it is not a piece of cake.
Construction. The beaker seats pretty tough in plastic base, It is very hard to detach them for cleaning. With time, coffee grinds get deposited between beaker and the base, not pleasant thing. The cap, plastic. Manufacturers keep saying that it does not have an odor. Debatable, but I can admit it, but ... There is a but. Plastic is great odor magnet, and once it got it from contact with something, it just keeps it for life. That cup comes in contact with coffee and the odor get transferred to it, result bad taste. Besides, the cup has a cylindrical ring which protrudes inside beaker. Water gets between beaker walls and cup ring and make good seal. All together, when you put the cup on it make large enough displacement and coffee get spilled, eegh.... Coffee grinds get between beaker and plastic base, hard to clean. The cup has a mesh, which get coffee grinds deposits in it. Hard to clean.
Mesh assembly. It has plastic reinforcement ring. It is bulky in thickness, odor again and large displacement. Once you put in the press you may get spills again.
So typical morning. You just woke up and need to get back to real life from you dreams. You need a nudge. Cup of morning coffee is a great nudge. OK, you go to you kitchen, boil water, put some coffee in the press and pour water. Put mesh/cap assembly on top. Oops, you get a spill. You thought you put reasonable amount of water, but it turned to be too much. Little bit messy, well do not worry. Set a timer and prepare your bagel with cream cheese. Ring, ring... coffee is ready. You press your ...., ahem, press and some how you got mess even more... Morning becoming little bit harsh. OK, told you do not put more than 3/4 water in it. Now have a little bit over half of coffee in your mug and mess around. Who said 3-cups. Today, got angry at that peice of kitchen art and instead of cleaning it, put in a trash. Instead get my similar french press I bought at TJMax, stainless still for a fraction of price of this Bodum. Like troubles? buy it. Otherwise look for something else/
