I have to give this cup full marks for aesthetics and function.
1) They are beautiful looking cups and a nice conversation piece. I like the shape of them and the glass is just so sparkling clean and clear.
2) Functionally, they do work nicely as I can hold on to a very hot cup of tea without burning my hands. And they do work very well, they keep the drink hot. A side danger is that you can keep burning your esophagus because it keeps the drink hot for so long.
Overall: I'd get them just for the looks, if nothing else, they're so cute.
6 month update: The glass has unfortunately browned up a little. I don't know if it's because I'm not scrubbing my cup hard enough or because the glass naturally takes the tea stain. But on the other hand, I don't want to scrub too hard so that it scratches the glass. Either way, my glasses are no longer as bright and clean as before.
2 1/2 year update: I've read many other Bodum cup reviews and it appears that many of the reviewers are saying that their cups are fragile. From what I see, it seems that only the ones with handles are fragile. Maybe it's due to the complexity of having a handle? Knocking on wood, so far, my cups have survived 2 1/2 years of daily use. Even more, I drink tea with them and I pour boiling water out of the kettle right into the cup. I also microwave them without any problem. I mostly hand wash them and put them in the dishwasher about once a month. They still work very well. I find that they do keep hot liquids hotter than regular cups. I still love them and still recommend them.
