Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bodum Assam 51-Ounce Tea PressCustomer Review: Cheaply made, broken upon receipt of package Summary: 1 Stars
I ordered the 6-cup Assam Tea Press because I drink a lot of tea and it was the only tea-press I could find that was that large. I received my package and found that two of the three plastic tabs that hold the lid/basket/plunger in place when you pour tea were broken and loose in the box. I sent it back for a replacement. Upon receiving the second try, one of the three plastic tabs were broken off. I'm sure it works great but I never got to try it because of the cheaply made plastic assembly. I am trying the smaller version with the glass handle and stainless steel basket to see if the quality is better.
Customer Review: nice but not perfect tea pot Summary: 3 Stars
The Bodum Assam 6-cup tea pot works well when used with the tea press, particularly if you place the loose-leaf tea inside a paper tea filter so the smallest particles do not migrate into the tea during the brewing period. But the tea pot cannot be used for storing the tea because the tea pot's top only works when attached to the tea press. Once the tea is brewed, you must either transfer the tea to a different pot with a top or you must leave the tea in this tea pot without a top. I would be happier with this product if it came with a top that allowed it to be used after the brewing is completed.
Customer Review: Handle Burned Summary: 2 Stars
I loved the tea press. The simple design and the fact that it poured very nicely. You can not put the pot on a gas stove directly because the handle starts to melt. I realized that the handle was made of plastic, but it stated that it was resistant to heat up to 500 degrees. I recommend buying the tea warmer stand or pouring hot water in the pot and letting the tea sit in it. I think this press was not suitable for me because I prefer to add other spices and boil the water for some time. I later purchased a tea pot with a diffuser that had a glass handle and it works very well and was a bit cheaper.
Customer Review: Perfect Pot Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned this pot for about 7 years. I have heard folks wondering about its longevity - its lasts. To clean, just knock the leaves out of the basket, rinse lightly, and toss everything in the dishwasher. Easy. I use it about 2x/wk with any loose tea or bags. Large loose leaves filter fine if you use a spoon to stir them around while you pour the hot water in. I use a hotpad below and a cozy on top and it stays hot for 2-3 hours. The first year I bought this I was so happy I bought one for many people on my Xmas list and they are just as thrilled as me. Youll be happy too.
Customer Review: Bodum Assam Tea Press Summary: 4 Stars
I am very happy with my Bodum Tea Press. I wanted a glass tea pot that would make more than the usual two or four cups. This is the ony one that I found. When I lived in Denmark I became familiar with Bodum and it is now my favorite brand. The only feature that I don't like and I hope they will improve it, is that I store my pot in the fridge so I have tea for a few days, and there is no top to it. The tea press top doesn't fit unless you keep the press part in it at all times and I don't want to store it in the fridge with the press inside of my brewed tea.
