Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bodum Assam 4-Cup Tea Press Teapot

Customer Review: Ok, not perfect
Summary: 4 Stars

The basket needs to have finer holes because tea leaves find their way through, and you have to brew the whole thing because of the design. It's not possible to successfully brew just one cup. It is also not possible to remove the basket and use the carafe to brew using a tea bag, as the lid does not fit without the basket in place. Could use some design improvement. I don't think it is worth $25, maybe $15 at best. You're paying for the name.

Customer Review: French press for tea
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a fine product. I've been using it for six months now without any problems, including the plunger. It works almost exactly like a French press for coffee. Regarding complaints form other users--I put it in the dishwasher once a week, which gets rid of odors. It's much easier to use than a teaball or infuser...but you cannot leave the tea without being plunged any longer than you normally would or it will get bitter.

Customer Review: I expected more from Bodum
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased a 4 cup Bodum teapot as a christmas gift and sent it directly to the recipient. Recently, during a visit I tried to use the teapot. I found that the cover was flimsy and fit the teapot only when the tea basket was in place. The cover fell off when the pot was tipped. The teapot arrived, I learned, with a broken positioning flange on the tea basket. I was disappointed to have given this as a gift. I expected more from Bodum.

Customer Review: Great pot -- Can't find any fault with it!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought one of these in Ireland about 4 years ago and have used it almost daily ever since. It makes wonderful tea -- and the kinds I brew have leaves that are large enough to remain in the strainer. It's a beautiful pot, too, and attractive on the table. I do keep a towel wrapped around it to better retain the heat, but that's no trouble. If you like tea made from leaves instead of bags, you'll almost certainly love this pot!

Customer Review: Bodum Assam Teapot
Summary: 5 Stars

Nicely designed, with a large infuser that can be sealed to stop the brewing process. This eliminates the need to remove the wet grounds before you have had your tea. (This way, all the cleanup occurs at once.) The handle stays cool during brewing. Also is good looking.
Note that this size is for four cups; it is relatively small. So if you need something larger, there are similar models available in larger sizes.
