Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bodum Assam 4-Cup Tea Press TeapotCustomer Review: plastic infuser absorbs odors and tastes from flavored tea Summary: 3 Stars
I recently purchased this pot from Amazon, and also ordered a variety of high grade specialty teas from another internet company. One of the teas was a cranberry tea, which had dried cranberries in the blend. I cleaned the infuser well after brewing the flavored tea, but found my next brew of oolong tasted like the cranberry! The plastic infuser apparently absorbs odors and tastes very easily... and these flavors are difficult to remove without long-term soaking. Overall, the pot itself works very well, but be careful if you like a variety of blends and flavors.
Customer Review: I got rid of mine Summary: 1 Stars
I can not possibly understand why they would make the strainer basket out of plastic. Why would I want to subject plastic to boiled water? There is a great deal of concern with plastics reaction to heat today. Is this plastic safe? I don't know. I emailed the company asking exactly what kind of plastic is used. They responded the plastic used is safe for human use. ???
That's their opinion without knowing exactly what plastic is used who knows if it is safe. Why not use stainless steel stainers in all their units? This applies to the 6 cup unit also.
Customer Review: Great for loose leaf tea brewers Summary: 5 Stars
I have used two of these tea presses. I use only loose leaf herb teas. It probably brews better than any other method. It pours without any serious back drips. Once brewed to the desired strength you then press down the plunger to isolate the tea from the water - and pour. If you make large quantities of tea it sure beats a large tea ball, besides, try finding a teapot with a large enough opening for the large tea balls! You can even use one in this teapot and use a saucer as the lid. Wiuth care my first Bodum lasted about 10 years.
Customer Review: Boudum-Assam 4-cup Tea Press Summary: 5 Stars
This tea pot works well for us. We can have better tea for less money by buying loose tea. No bags, no teaball, just fill the press. Brewing is fast, and you vary the time by instructions on the tea or matte. Leave the press in as lid after brewing - the tea leaves are isolated by the press. Clean up is easy. We use the Bodum double wall tumblers to serve the tea so it stays hot longer.
We consider tea better for our health than coffee. We plan to keep warmer this winter by burning less fuel and drinking more tea!
Customer Review: Long-time user - Still satisfied Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using Bodum's Assam Tea Presses for over a decade. I'm currently on my third. My husband and I are T-holics and it gets used almost every day. It's perfect for the black & green loose tea we buy in bulk. It makes enough for 2 mugs. And, the clean up is easy since everything goes in the dishwasher. We are very pleased with this product. The only problem we have ever encountered is with chai tea, which is--at least from our vendor--very fine and seeps out thru the holes in this and every other tea strainer.
