Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bodum Assam 4-Cup Tea Press Teapot

Customer Review: Works just great.
Summary: 4 Stars

This tea press works well. It's best feature is the ability to stop the brewing when it's reached the perfect color, facilitated by the see-through pot and the design of the plunger/tea holder in the center. I originally got the 6 cup and it was WAY TOO BIG--the 4 cup brews enough tea for me and my husband to each have two tradional-sized tea cups, plus enough for me to get a third! So unless you have a huge family or like to drink gigantic mugs of tea, this should be big enough. Also, note that you you do need to be making about two cups to get the device to work, so if you drink a lot of tea solo or cup-by-cup, choose a smaller item.

Customer Review: Love the Press!
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchsed this tea press for easier tea making at work. I really prefer loose leaf teas. The infuser basket is plastic and is wonderful! I got tired of going through metal tea balls that would start to change the taste of the water. Plastic prevents this problem. Everything is very easy to use and clean. The only problem I have is that you have to drink the tea pretty fast because it looses heat very fast and won't stay warm in the pot. Other than that...this has been a great purchase! UPDATE: To solve the problem of losing heat...use a candle warmer. Doesn't give off too much heat and works great with this pot!

Customer Review: A wonderful, personal teapot!
Summary: 5 Stars

I first experienced the Bodum tea press at The Cupping Room in NYC. My husband bought me the 4-cup one for Christmas. It does a wonderful job. It easily fills my oversized mug three or four times over. It's a good size for my desk at work; however, at home, I would probably use the two-cup press for a quick cup in the morning. I don't have a problem with the suction, or with leaves slipping through as of yet. However, the tea DOES cool off fairly quickly, so I'm going to try to find a warmer.

I source my loose tea from the Irish Breakfast tea is a perfect morning pick me up.

Customer Review: i love mine
Summary: 5 Stars

Got this for Christmas and the whole family uses it at least once a day, sometimes more. I boil the water in a separate kettle on the stove, put loose tea in the press, add water, wait a minute then press down the handle. Makes perfect tea. Others in my family have used it with tea bags and it works that way too. If you make with chai, you will notice an after taste on your next pot of regular tea, so you'll want to scrub the pot and use a little diluted bleach water to clean the plastic strainer. I use it daily with Tetley loose tea, ordered from Amazon as stores around here don't sell loose tea

Customer Review: Buy the right tea!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this tea press. In fact I have a large one for company and a small one when it is just the two of us. The previous reviewer said that there were tea leaves everywhere but I think she was probably not using tea leaves but processed tea which is very small and look almost like coffee grounds. So you do need to take care that you buy the right kind of tea which is pretty easy when you know what to look for. I have had mine for a year now and have never had a problem.

As for the care of this it is easy to clean and pretty sturdy. I recommend it to anyone who likes tea.

Enjoy!
