Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bodum Assam 4-Cup Tea Press Teapot

Customer Review: This Is the One to Get for Several Compelling Reasons
Summary: 5 Stars

After I was introduced to the superiority and richness of loose-leaf tea over the much compromised and degraded tea bag format, I want on a quest to find the ultimate tea infuser. I tried a steel mesh ball, a mesh net that goes over the tea mug, and a French Press. I then opted for the glass and metal Bodum Assam 4-Cup Tea Press over the less expensive plastic one because the plastic might melt, might adversely affect flavor, and its filter holes were too big to filter all forms of loose tea. The Bodum Assam 4-Cup Press proved superior in terms of its filter (no loose tea particles floating in the water), its heavy-duty construction, its dishwater-safe feature, and its ease of use. You can forget all the other methods for infusing tea. Get the Bodum.

Customer Review: Perfect Tea every time!
Summary: 5 Stars

The Bodum Assam 4-Cup Tea Press makes brewing perfect tea from loose tea leaves both fun and simple. If you prefer loose tea to tea bags, and enjoy tea at the office, this is the way to do it. The basket easily holds five teaspoons of loose tea (one per cup plus "one for the pot"). Pour in hot water, wait four to five minutes and press down the plunger. This pushes the leaves to the bottom of the basket, and seals them in so they don't continue infusing the tea. You have perfect tea, that doesn't grow bitter, and the leaves are contained so that they can be easily disposed of. It makes enough tea so that you can serve tea to a visitor and even offer "seconds." Everything rinses out easily, too. I have one for the office and one at home.te

Customer Review: No warranty for cracked strainer
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased this product recently, and have hand washed the plastic strainer maybe 3 or 4 times. It was getting tea stained, so I checked their website to make sure that it was dishwasher safe. When I saw that it was, I put it into the top rack of the dishwasher. It came out with a piece completely cracked off. I emailed them twice with no response, so today I called and they said that ONLY their electrical items are warrantied. Nothing else - no exceptions. This is the last Bodum product I will buy. What lousy customer service! I guess they must make their money on the first Bodum product a person buys, because they certainly can't have a lot of repeats with that kind of attitude.

Customer Review: Works great for me
Summary: 5 Stars

Great simple tea pot. Love the press feature. I use this every day and have no problems with it. The plunger works perfectly, the lid fits, it pours without a problem, and the glass is sturdy. I usually drink Numi teas - mostly whole tea leaves - so I have no problems with tea particles escaping through the plastic filter, but even the Tazo teas aren't much of a problem. A fine metal mesh would have been better, but I don't know how that would work with the press. It makes enough tea for four regular sized mugs or 2 giant ones. I keep the tea hot by using the Norpro cup warmer I bought through Amazon (this one works - I set the pot right on it). For the price, I'd buy this tea pot again.

Customer Review: Great pot, but....
Summary: 4 Stars

This pot was wonderful. It was nice to look at plus it was clear so I could keep a tight rein on my light teas I tend to drink that brew for only two or three minutes. I also helps a great deal with black teas. If you wash it often then you don't have staining problems. The handle sticks out quite a bit so you never will burn yourself.

The issue I had with this pot is that it broke quickly. It is not a very sturdy pot due to the glass being a bit thin. Also it didn't keep heat in because of the thin glass (but glass pots are prone to rapid heat loss). When/if I replace my pot I will buy a nice round pot again that is made of better glass.
