I used this twice!! The first time was to make Ham salad and it worked great!!! How ever the second time I sliced 5 potatoes and the slice/shred disk broke!! No wonder it was an black friday item at Wal-Mart!Customer Review: works GREAT

I'm stunned at all the complaints on this unit. I've had this for several years, purchased on the recommedation of a friend. I use it to slice potatoes for scalloped potatoes all the time and it works like a dream. During canning season it runs non stop. I use it to slice mountains of onions, tomatoes, peppers, herbs, and cucumbers. I use it to slice celery and to grate carrots. I use the spout to slice tomatoes before cooking down by setting the unit on an upside down dutch oven and fill a 4 gallon stock pot with tomatoes right from the chute. And I have had no problems with the chute leaking or mis-directing food. I can't imagine spending more for a food processor, when this one works as well as it does. I use it so often I have it sitting out on the counter all the time. It is a little noisey, but for as well as it works, and as inexpensive as it is, I'd say its worth dealing with a little more noise. Customer Review: Great price - Great processor!

I was looking this up to reccomend it to a friend and saw all these terrible reviews.... I'm not sure why! I've had this food processor for years and I love it. It's smaller than many of its more expensive counterparts, and certainly cheaper. I use it almost daily. It slices and shreds all my veggies/slaws, and the chopping blade makes wonderful hummus, sauces, salsas, etc. And, it's easy to clean.
I will keep buying this f.p. as long as they keep making it.
A quick note - I accidentally put the bowl piece in my dishwasher on the high heat setting (a no-no!) and melted it. The company was great about sending me a replacement - it was cheap ($9, I think?) and sent quickly (whew! don't think I could go very long without it!).

I bought this, despite the bad reviews, because I figured I could live with some design flaws. I just needed something that could shred cheese - so what if it was a little noisy? I wish it just had some design flaws. I had this thing about five months, when I turned it on one day, dropped in a small block of cheddar, and the motor died. No smoke to indicate the motor had burned out, no slowdown to indicate I had put too much pressure on it. Just dead. So I called Black & Decker and for only $7.95 for "shipping and handling," they promised to send me a new one. They did send me a brand new one in relatively short order (only a couple of weeks). Here it is about five months later and once again, the motor is dead. This time, it never turned on at all. I'll be demanding a refund from Black & Decker, not only of the money I initially spent, but also of the shipping and handling I paid for the replacement that failed. And then I'm going to try to find another Salad Shooter (my last one lasted more than 10 years).
