I purchased this product as a gift for my 80-year-old mother. While she was initially excited about it, it soon became clear that the jar opener was going to work: (1) only intermittently; and (2) only on a limited variety of jars. On the few occasions when it did decide to work, it required substantial hand manipulation. This was the case both when my mother tried it solo, and when her daughter and son-in-law tried to do it. I bought this item for myself, my mom and my grandparents. We all use our jar openers anytime we have a tough lid. It is easy to use - put the jar in, press the button - its open. It works great for older people - my grandparents have a very tough time opening jars of anything and this eased it by 100% - so I think its perfect for older people or people with sensitive hands - but I also recommend it for people who hate opening tough lids!!! :)Customer Review: Does what it says!

Bought it for my 90 year old mother with arthritis (slight) and loss of strength in her hands. Claussen pickle jars, Newman's spaghetti sauce, olive jars, marinated artichoke heart's, etc. ..... works like a charm. I recommend it for anyone, but especially for the elderly who might have arthritis or natural loss of strength. It does take a little extra counter space (similar to a coffee maker) but the trade off was worth it for MY mother.Customer Review: A Product that WORKS!!

I don't write reviews for many items, but this product WORKS! I have purchased it for my Mother, Grandmother and Mother-In-Law. They all rave about the ease-of-use and effectiveness. Just remember...NO CANS!! It seems my mother and grandmother both had a temporary lapse of memory and placed cans in the opener. And I have to say, cans are really hard to get out!! So, despite the odd chance of "user error," this product is FANTASTIC!!!Customer Review: Great product

Excellent product! I don't use it all that frequently, so I keep it in the cupboard. It sets up, opens a jar, and collapses for storage all in about 30 seconds. A nice big handle on top makes it easy to move from and to the cupboard.
Note: the actual height of the unit when set up for operation is 17", plus enough space to get your hand around the top handle. It's about 11" tall when collapsed and locked for storage.
